efi flush

My dealer is recommending a flush of the efi system for $135.00.

Is this just a cash grab or a good idea? I have 44k on my 09.

Also to add, I had the dealer look at my spongy brakes and they adjusted the calipers and lubed them, apparently. This has changed, somewhat the issue of the brake pedal not remaining at a constant hieght when applying the brake.

If you put 44k on your car before having your brakes serviced, then I'm not surprised you're having problems. Our winters and all the salt are horrible on cars and cause all sorts of problems with brake systems...so it's important to do a brake service about every year to clear out the crap, clean and lube the sliders, etc.

As for fuel injection flush - it's 50/50. Some say it's important. Others say that PetroCanada/Shell/Esso already put cleaning additives into their gas so it's unnecessary. Now maybe I've got it wrong, but isn't the EFI flush simply adding Toyota's OEM EFI fuel cleaner? I think it's like $35 so I don't know why they want $100 to pour the bottle in.

Anyways - go armed with the Toyota Maintenance Menu:
Go to Toyota.ca website
On the top menu, hover over "For Owners" and select "Service Your Vehicle" >> "Maintenance Menu"
Punch in your car's specs and you'll get what work is recommended.

I had the brake service performed last year according to the Toyota maintenance schedule.Brake service is recommended at 32,64 and 96,000kms on the Toyota site.

Where are you getting yearly from?

I do not see anything on the Toyota site about an efi flush so I think it is a cash grab.
