Knowing what you know now.......... and your brain somehow got magically transported to the day you bought your corolla......would you still have gone through with your purchase? Why..or why not
I probably would have gotten an XLE or gone 2010 Camry LE, or the 2011 Hyundai Elantra. Why?
The Corolla XLE because I want auto climate controls, and the uniqueness of being one of the few.
The Camry because I want the power, I find that I hear my engine groaning when carrying a full passenger load up a hill. My family has also traditionally always owned Camrys.
The Elantra cuz of the 40 mpg freeway and the fully loaded featuers!
The Elantra would've attracted my attention...thats for certain. Better fuel economy with more power and features...how could it not really.... I haven't test driven one to date because I already have the Corolla and really I kind of don't want to know what I am missing as flipping new cars is assuredly a poor money management game.

i dont think the elantra is a bad car, Either way you have a 100000 mile warranty so your covered for certain things. i think hyundai has come a long way and is a reputable brand.
Personally I still love my corolla and probably would make the same decision. The elantra is maybe the only other thing i would look at.
The Corolla isn't too expensive, and I think it's a good reliable car, that keeps it's value longer than other cars in it's class.
One thing I dislike about the Corolla or Toyotas in general, is that everything is plastic. A plastic dash will rattle more.
I recall my 1990 Corolla, and the interior was not all plastic like today's cars. And that car had no rattles.
No, I would not have gone through with the purchase. Despite the issues with my Corolla I still think it will be a reliable car, I am just not happy with my purchase when everything is considered. Unfortunately as LeanBurn said flipping the Corolla is not a wise idea especially considering its relative fuel efficiency.
I plan on purchasing a 2011-12 Hyundai Sonata SE (maybe turbo) in the near future. For those who are not convinced of Hyundai's (or Kia's) reliability I can assure you my Corolla has been to the dealership more times and had more issues than the 3 Hyundai cars in my family combined. I'll leave out the details to avoid derailing the thread but I absolutely would not buy my Corolla again knowing what I know now.

Definitely. I love my Corolla. Never have had any problems (except the recalls, but they weren't really much of an inconvenience) and I love driving it. I probably would buy the 2.4L XRS now and I still don't like Civics. My 3 choices were a Crorolla, Mazda3, or Civic, and I definitely stand by my decision. Fun car with all the features I wanted and it looks great. Traction control has definitely prevented some nasty fender benders/unintentional offroading experiences haha

going on 3 years with no major probs, but i was after a more aggressive look and i'd hoped for more aftermarket support. if i had it to do over i might have done a civic si.
Love the corolla...hate not having power windows or locks...I would have paid extra for one with these options. My passat was on the fritz...vw, go figure, and I was in a bind to get a replacement car. This one was in my price range. Still cant believe you can get a car without power options.
If I have enough cash back then, I would buy a vw gti instead. Don't get me wrong, the corolla is a good car and it does what it should do. Great on gas too, but at this moment, I want some fun in my driving.
I would not have gone through with my purchase knowing what I know now (bought Dec. '09). The Corolla really is a great car and has treated me well, but I'd like to get a lot more for the same price so I recently started looking at the Elantra. I test drove one a couple of weeks ago...its really nice and has good power and feel to it. The only thing is now, if I got something different, I'd have to pay interest and would be starting all over again with car payments. I think I got a really good deal on my Rolla to get something else now.
At the time when I bought the Corolla, I wanted the Rav4 because of the room or the TC because of the sportiness, but both were out of the question because of the price. I didn't like the 2010 Elantra's and I think the Civic's & Mazda 3's cost too much. So I started looking at a base Camry but it was the same price as my Corolla S with moonroof & alloys and didn't have 0%. So I stuck with the Corolla.
well, my old car was giving me tons of problems, so we took it to a mechanic to get an estimate to have everything on the car fixed and it came out to be over 2500 dollars. my dad said forget it, we are buying a new car. i thought i was going to get a G35 coupe like i was promised since my freshman year of high school, but my dad simply wouldnt budge because he didnt want to buy another used car, or else he would have just fixed mine. 6 hours later i had the corolla.
i wasnt happy at first because i had no intention of getting a corolla, nor have i ever looked at a corolla before i bought it, but after a day i grew to love it. the deal we got was pretty hard to pass up, but i wish i did more shopping around. it would be really hard to choose a different car back then, but if it came to it (realistically), i would have probably gotten either a civic si coupe, gti, or altima coupe.
i dont regret getting my car though, ive grown to love it over the past year, especially with these gas prices being 4.25 now
