doesn't really matter......CAI won't stuck in water that easy unless you drive through a pond, better yet, you can always add in a by pass filter from AEM, then you will be 99% safe (sorry, nothing is 100% in terms of safety)
The only concern should be installation if you are doing it yourself, almost all the CAI installation required removing the front bumper to gain access. On the other hand, SRI is very straight forward of removing stock air box and put the SRI in place. Remember same process when it comes to cleaning the filter.
If you are looking for better gains over anything else CAI is your best bet.
If you are wiling to have slightly lower gains with ease of install and maintenance, SRI is your option.

I would personally go for the K&N Typhoon (if they have one for the 1.8L)
