Switching to cold air

I am considering gettng rid of my typhoon for a CAI. Just wondering what you guys thought. I know there are threads on the differences, but not about switching from one to the other. The good news is I can write a review on which one i like better if a get a new one

Save your money, you won't notice that much of a difference. Use it on something else.

The great thing about "CAI My Way" is that you get to test and try each way for...freeeeeee.

One difference I noticed right away between my CAI and my friends SRI, is that you'll start hearing his SRI in the low RPMs right away, as in taking off then it will die down. You'll start to hear mine in the 3K+ RPMs and building.

One thing I like about the SRI is how you get more sound in City Driving in a way, and it looks nicer in the engine IMO.

the only reason i am considering switching is because i am having problem with my k&n, when its gets hot out, it will suck air and fall on its face when trying to accelerate. My other option is to rig it to suck more cold air, kinda like a ram kit.

K&N comes with heat shield doesnt it ? switching to takeda or CAI or any other intake from your current setup isint worth the money and wont help that much. want low end torque back ? switch back to stock airbox.

so switching to a Takeda would not help boost low-end torque?! jeez, if thats the case ill just stick with the stock air box than.

Short ram is short ram, takeda or k&n, both will do the same. perhaps better than a stock airbox, but not better than the other, specially if you already have one. and both come with heat shield. the heat might make a little difference but not that noticable. stone11 has the weapon-r on his car wtihout any heat shield and in my opinion his car drives just fine, hot or cold.

so if your getting it, get either one, takeda i believe used a dry flow filter vs the pre-oiled in K&n. thats the only difference.

you could get the weapon r dragon intake. it comes with the ram air tube for cold air intake, and you can buy a cover that makes it a staright up cai. i like this design cause the filter is up in the engine bay like a sri where it cant get soaked and you can run the ram air tube to your lower or upper grill. this keeps the intake opening away from your tire well like all the other cai's so if you drive thru a huge puddle before you can slow down it wont take in a lot of water. and its still cheaper than all the other cai. the weapon r secret weapon is designed the same way but it doesnt have the optional shield to make it cai only but it still comes with the ram air tube which makes it a cai/sri combo.
