Outside air coming into my corolla (problem with sealing?)

So, driving on the interstate yesterday (first time exceeding 80mph) and I started hearing air coming in and notice that the left window & lock controls on the door were freezing cold and so I kinda started feeling around and wind from outside is coming in at kind of the level that a tire with a nail in it would come in. It's not insane but quite a bit of cold air is coming in (I live in New Hampshire)

So, I'm wondering can I put a stop to this or is this just normal for my Corolla?

Site-Note: When I open the door, where the door connects to the car, there is plastic / Styrofoam things stuck in there (black ones) is that on every model or did someone unpack this ting and forget to take out the packing materials (partly joking)

You can put Dynamat/eDead/etc in the door to beef it up and should seal a bit better if there is a gap or something. I will be doing this to my car and wife's Mazda 3 eventually.

The purpose of that black styrofoam is so that Corolla can receive the 5 star safety rating. When the car is in an accident that styrofoam slows the fold of the body by milliseconds. Thats all it takes to get the higher rating..

Why do you want to remove it? It's there for a purpose. No weight to speak of and the foam is also in the front and rear bumper.
Manufacturer will not put in anything if they can save.

It "may" keep some road noise out of the cabin.

If your in an area of the country that gets road salt in the winter months make sure when you wash the car to spray in there to remove any salts that get trapped and accumulate.

You can also put the hose in there from the top of the fender if you pop open the hood.

Good tip. Thanks.

Yeah, I guess they jus tlook weird. I'm used to older cars that show all metal when I open my door, not Styrofoam.

Thanks everyone.

No clue. Even if I do work for TomTom, I don't have the map in my head. LOL
