hey guys,
Im a quiet observer here but still a bit of a newb.. I have a 2010 corolla XRS and its cute.. but i wanna make it hurt the asphalt a little.. supercharge or turbo charge? price vs power? what supporting mods would i need. I've done some searches but just wanted to get a fresh discussion going with you guys!!
There are currently no supercharger or turbo setups for the Xrs and I don't think there will be any in the future. Only way to go is custom. The Xrs is a fun car to drive, but if you want more power, don't waste money on turbo/sc and R&D, just trade it in for a car with more power I'd say.

...why hasn't anyone gone with nitrous ??? There have been plenty of interested power people asking about TRD superchargers, turbo kits, someone even did a custom turbo install way back....
I don't know a lot about it but it seems like a pretty viable choice. Its cheaper, less parts, less weight, you can turn it off or on at will, customize your "shot"...
Is it too hard to install, or is it too dangerous..anyone??

Use a Scion tC / Scion xB(08+) turbo kit. Have the shop do some custom work and it should be fine. Do a search and you will find Andy's XRS TURBO page. He had wicked power after some trial and error.
There is no Direct Bolt On kit for our car, but doing a Scion Retro Kit wouldn't be too hard for an experienced Tuner.
Easily achieve 260Hp with 6-8psi (this would allow you to keep everything else relatively stock)
Achieve more... like 350-370 with a more aggressive boost, but prepare for sub-component upgrades like pistons, valves, transmission, LSD, etc....
But Search for Andy's page if you wanna Boost, there is plenty of info there.
haha maybe its just me but nitrous now sounds too ricey. fast and the furious car-blowing-up style haha
id definitely go for retrofitting the tc supercharger
if only i had the funds ah it would be too sick!
and obviously people are just gonna say if you wanna go fast then trade it in and get something fast
but i dont see any reason to trade in something relatively new. people bought a corolla for all the qualities is currently has and now they want to go faster....in that car.
just specify "how can i go fast without trading it in". haha
:]

Ugh, imo get a project car if you want to go fast. The corolla was designed as an economy car, you will probably be breaking and replacing things more often than you might prefer if you opt to boost it.
If I remember correctly, Andy had his battery in the trunk, has anyone else done this seems like you'd get a ton more airflow to the car, also i considered nitrous but it's more for bursts of speed I think people like boost because you always have it through out the drive.. Nitrous seems very suited for street racing something that isn't discussed on the forums, and honesty not the best application for our corollas hahaha

It has nothing to do with airflow. Andy did it because of fitment issue of the turbo components and the battery is on the way.
