What?!

I thought it was very difficult to steal the 2009 corollas and up??? This article I found said that it is one of the top 10 most stolen cars in America! I thought there was some kind of engine immobilizer or something to prevent car theft? heres the link.

Yes that is very true but still, isn't there some kind of chip in the key and in the ignition to prevent car theft or something??

Check your owners manual, if you have a push button pad on your key, then you do have an anti-theft immobilizer device in the car.

If you are concerned about theft, do what my dad tells me to do:
-Park in a well lit area.
-Do not leave valuables in your car, especially if they are in plain sight.
-If you have a GPS unit, get a dash beanbag mount so you can hide it on the floor when you don't use it. (this happened to my old 2002 Corolla, guy stole my window mount for my GPS, now I have a beanbag mount)
-Do not bring any attention to your car (kind of a pointless thing to tell someone who wants to, or has done up their car with flashy things), but still, the idea is don't advertise unless you want the attention.

Toyota's have very rudimentary security systems unless you have the VIP Security option installed. It's just a simple immobilizer. Most models don't even have break-in sensors unless you opt for VIP. In those cases the only thing the alarm is good for is when you press the panic button, nothing else.

Plus the very common parts that make up the corolla are a quick easy sell after hackin em off, unlike the more expensive and much more rare parts of a high end car. Probably harder to get noticed driving a stolen 2010 corolla than a Porsche or something too.

I'll never understand the motivations of stealing. Even little things. If it isn't yours, why do you deserve to have it more than the person who worked to get it? Even if they got it for no work at all and seemingly don't deserve it, what gives you the right to take it?

Bad guys always have their ways.....

Just like jailbreaking apple devices....you think apple didn't work hard to prevent that, the truth is there is always a way to do illegal things.

Like the recent hack on the sony playstation network.
