First Mod: Viper 5901

I've finally gotten around to doing my first mod!!

When I initially bought the 2010 LE, I was offered to have the super duper top of the line aftermarket preinstalled system activated for a couple hundred bucks extra. (I believe it was a KARR Alarm). I declined their offer knowing full well I was going to go the Viper Route, and now 5 months later, I've done just that.

Hired a guy to come out and do the install for me. He was super friendly and incredibly helpful. For those around the Northwest area, look into Seattle12Volt. It was discovered that the alarm the Toyota dealer had offered to activate was actually wired wrong. LOL! And activation might have fried a few fuses....or wires. So i had him take it off....which resulted in two nice holes in my dash next to the ODBII port where the alarm had previously been......anyway to hide this? Maybe I should have him return it to me so I can stick it back on and make thieves think its the alarm!

Overall its a pretty neat system, I even got the digital tilt sensor, glass breakage sensor on as well for added security. It's hella loud when triggered and actually really does work about 1 mile away. My controls on the fob still work so I still have that option in place. My favorite feature has got to be the remote start. Admittedly I had wanted to get this so I could warm up the car in the mornings.......but I discovered that it reduces my MPG so nevermind, its now purely a recreational item. I impressed my gf and my room mate haha. They both thought it was sooo cool.

So I do highly recommend this unit, for those of you thinking of getting smart start, DON'T DO IT. The servers have been known to be incredibly unreliable and only work 20%-50% of the time. I opted for the 1 mile ranger for this very reason.
