I have been experiencing some issues with my Aux In jack with my Corolla.
I use my iPod/iPhone in my Corolla all the time (I haven't listened to the radio in years) so I depend on it all the time. Around 6-8 months after I purchased my Corolla, I noticed issues with the jack. I would be listening to my ipod and it would go off. I would press the Aux button, but it wouldn't work. I had to wiggle the cable to get it to work again. This became extremely frequent.
The next time I brought my Corolla into Toyota to get it serviced, I mentioned the issue to them. When I picked it up, they said they tested it and that it was working fine and it was not the Aux jack, it was probably the cable. So I have since purchased 2 separate Audio cables and its the same thing. I can be driving along fine, listening to my pm3 player and it will go off the Aux signal and back to the radio. I have to wiggle it to try and get it back. But this is happening more and more frequently. If I gently bump the cable, it will happen. If I go around a corner, it can happen. If I hit a bump, it will happen.
Either have the AUX input replaced or add an iPod cable so that you can also charge your iPod at the same time. It also sounds better than the AUX input.

Any idea on how much it costs to replace the Aux In unit? Is it expensive?
I do like the sound of the cable you are refering to. Any idea what they are called. Right now, I have a 3.5mm audio cable that attaches to my ipod and then into the Aux In. I have a separate car charger for my ipod that goes into the power source, but it won't play while its just charging (I am assuming because its not connected to the Aux In?). Can you get these cables that charge and allow you to play without connecting to the Aux In cable?

Thanks,
It's just the iPod adapter cable, most car stereo stores & Toyota dealers sell them. Do you have the JBL system or not? If you have the JBL system than the regular iPod adapter cables won't work.

He's in Canada, so that for sure means no because Canadian market cars never got that option.

Use your regular iPod cable and plug it into the headunit. Make sure you device is updated. I was having connection problems with the old firmware on my Touch.

But if the HU is the same as in the US than the Toyota one will work as well as many aftermarket ones too.

I'm not sure about the cost of the AUX replacement. Check with your dealer first to see if it's still under warranty. That being said I would still get an iPod interface cable so that the iPod can be charged & controlled from the HU.
The same type of thing can be found locally too so you may check with local stereo shops to see what options they have. You could also upgrade your HU & have iPod control for less than $200 for a single DIN stereo. I just installed a new 2-din HU with nav, dvd, cd, iPod control all with a 7" screen. I love it.
