door lock??

My driver side door locks by itself when I was washing the car. Is this normal. Happened to me twice now. Once when I was working in the garage. I just heard the car beep.

I know that if you unlock your car (via the remote key fob) but you don't open any door afterward, then the car will automatically lock itself again after a short while (a safety feature). Other than this situation, I never heard of or had any other situations in which it lock itself for no reason.

Only one door locks? I owned a vehicle that you could activate a feature that would auto lock but in that instance all of the doors would lock not just the drivers door. The vehicle also came standard with a push button numeric keypad located below the drivers side door handle so that the driver could then punch in a security code to unlock the doors in case the keys ever got locked in accidently.

Is the car doing any other odd things such as electric windows acting up and going up or down by them selves or radio coming on and off by it's self, lights flashing, alarm going off for no apparant reason? I've known people to complain of things like this to be caused by a weak battery that needed replaced. The battery would start and run the car without any issues but for what ever reason the vehicles electronics would begin to act up in any number of strange ways such as the ones I've mentioned here if the battery was going bad and only able to hold a partial charge. The owner would eventually replace their battery and all was good. People have often refused to believe that it's the battery causing their problems since it was capable of starting the vehicle which admittingly does seem strange and for that reason the would often hold off purchasing a new battery in an attempt to avoid wasting money. Can't say I blame them. But once they had exhausted other possibilities and finally decided to change their battery they then came back around and indicated that they too believed it was in fact their battery after all since after replacing it all the mysterious symptoms suddenly dissapeared.

Not saying it's your battery for sure but it's something to keep in mind if it's a car with a fair amount of electronics which can be almost any car now days.

One one incident it is one door because I was the only one in the car as I exited about 5 min later it beep. Yesterday I was washing the car and the car beep and I checked the door.. .. it locked by itself. That was all the doors.

My car I just purchased FEB of this year so I don't think it is the battery. I never experienced all that you mentioned above.

Its normal. Its a security feature. If you press the unlock button and don't open any doors, it'll lock everything up just for security. Try out yourself. Hit the unlock button on your key grab something to drink and kick back for a good 5 mins lol.

Mine locks on its own after 30 seconds of pushing unlock and not opening any doors...

Is it possible your keys were in your pocket and they buttons got pushed? That's happened to me multiple times. One time I was in my room and I laid down, a few seconds later the panic was going off.

Thanks for the response I figured it's a security feature but one question. What if you leave the keys on the seat will it lock on it's own?

And no I don't think I accidentally press the button on the key
