Brand new Corolla. First sensible car.

So I am new to the forum, and bought a new silver S model yesterday. It is an interesting addition to my stable that will be hard to get used to, but I am excited.
I will use the car exclusively for work. I won't be making any modifications other than 120v powerbanks, integrated laptop in trunk with wifi antenna on roof passing to a indash DVD screen and a permanent mount .40 cal pistol easy access lock box under seat with a solenoid lock that integrates thru the alarm starter kill circuit. (I am fully legal for this

Other cars in the stable:

Toyota P/U 80 with a Corvette LS1, 700r4 tranny, Ford 9inch running gear, and a dodge caravan brake pedal

93 Isuzu Trooper on 33" BFG's, lockers and such.

80 VW poptop. Hippie F&@! truck. Porsche 914 heads, full balanced rotating assy, headers and still slow!

06 Subaru WRX 286whp/315wtq prepped for stage rally. Skid plates, adj suspension, sway kit and many other goodies.

So I really needed a daily driver and this Corolla fit the bill. My questions are as follows:

How is Toyota about warranty? If I add power for my devices are they gonna be denying warranty work? What other things are they known for?

Does anyone make a skid plate for these? The poor motor just hangs over pavement and I don't like that.

How much of a difference does the sway kit make?

to TN !!

Warranty coverage is a tricky one as some dealerships are more lenient than others, I would consult a dealership prior to install to be sure.

I think you are the first person on this forum to ever ask if there is a skid plate for the Corolla (I have never heard of one commercially, might have to be a DIY on this one)...(some have said it comes stock looking like its in 4x4 off road mode) so I take it lowering won't be an avenue you will be pursuing ??

Are you talking about the TRD rear sway bar?? If so, the difference is quite noticeable, excellent bang for the buck handling mod.

No, not a hitman. It is irresponsible to carry a firearm when it can be accessible to others. You can't pack it all over the place so you have to leave it in the car. With brazen smash n grabs in full public view, you have to expect it could happen to you. A stolen gun is a gun used to commit violent acts. New cars factory alarms electonically lock out the fuel system. Tap into that and you have a perfect safelock. Only the alarm remote will unlock it. I will say, don't ever chase me back to my car.

The skid plate is the first thing I did to my Subaru. It had a cheap plastic one. I have several scars on it that would have been oil pan busters. Mostly it keeps snow from packing up into the engine bay. I don't like that ours don't have anyting.

And as far as how do I drive all those cars, well 2 of em slowly, one loudly and other like I stole it

I work for a copier company and am all over the Pac NW and often find myself in less than safe areas. I fish excessively as well. And since the elected officials of the Peoples Republic of Portland and Seattle (they who run the state of Oregon & Washington) find it more important to expand bike lanes and monitor traffic and parking fines than fighting meth, you and or your car can be a Walmart to these scum.

Don't get me wrong. I am a peace loving skinny hippie child. (Hint, VW Camper I am by no means a militant. I just know that scumbags today are next level evil. And I am no victim.

I've only been to Portland once, but I was amazed at how many meth head loiters were downtown, as if it were normal.

It's not really any different from any other downtown area. That being said I never find any need to go to the downtown area, too many people on roads that are too narrow.

Portland has problem with being too liberal about homeless people, and bicyclists.

Hate to say it Lean, I had more problems in BC than here....spent 6 months up there and people were amazed I didn't have a Club on my car. Had my car prowled twice and a kayak stolen. Up there it was heroin and cocaine, down here it's meth. You actually are physically safe in the city though.

I mostly worry about the fishing holes that the thieves target cars and such. In those areas we have a big problem with immigrant organized crime groups and meth heads. They run chop shops out of the Salem area and have fencing for stolen tools and electronics. I have had several reports of fisherman suprising them and getting guns pulled on them, as well as witnessed it myself.

It just stands that criminals expect us to be sheep. I am a wolf in sheeps clothing

It probably doesn't help that the Corolla is one of the most stolen cars in N America huh?
