For many of us, the three years with our cars have just passed. Anybody considering or have gotten an extended warranty with TFS? I saw on Slickdeals about some Toyota dealers (err one or two in particular) offering them for much less than if you were to buy from your local T dealer...with the way Toyota's vehicles are nowadays, I'm not sure if I would go without a warranty if I am going to keep the car for quite sometime.
hard to say these days. quality has definitely gone down some. i have a 10yr/100k warranty from Toyota (free of course). with my recent ~$1k bill on my lexus for a alternator replacement i would say extended warranty would be peace of mind.
I have an ECP at my Corolla up to 2014 or 160,000km.
What's good about this is that you have a free diagnosis if ever you get paranoid and sense that there might be a problem on your car.
But the bad thing is, they always say, "it's normal".
Well, for a guy like me who doesn't really know a lot about car issues or problems, all I can say to the advisor is, "Okay. Thank you." Then I go home and wonder if it's really normal.
D I thought you were in a hurry to get rid of your Corolla for something else?
No not in a real hurry Ray. If I could get out of this car, I would, but based on my current financial and economic situation, it just makes better sense to keep it for the time (years probably ), since I'm close to paying off my car. Which sucks because there are so many other cars out there now that I would want to buy, or would rather have (FRS haha). And with the way Toyotas are right now, I don't know if the Corolla will hold up like my RAV4 after the warranty is over.
Anyway, I just put an aFe dry filter in and just bought the TRD RSB. As for "mods", I won't look at much else down the road than springs maybe and other stuff that I would have to replace (like struts). I would've love to get RPF1s but since the XRS has 17s already, I don't really need wheels.
^If you want the same Toyota Warranty as you were offered when the car was new, you have to get it before 3 yr./36k. If it's passed that, you have to get a "used" car warranty, which, IMO, isn't as great.
Just my .02

Exactly! I'm having to revise my thinking about "normal" with my new Corolla. It's one of the best cars I've owned so far, but there are questions I'd really like to ask the maintenance techs at the dealership about, but I'd get the "it's normal" thing, most likely. Oh well.
I suppose my "problem" is that my latest "new" vehicle was a 1998 Ford, and a 1994 Saturn before that. How things change!
This is the email from the dealer in Massachusetts, I have yet to contact the big dealer in Kansas that has been doing a lot of warranty sales on SD:
Quote:
I am currently offering the Toyota Platinum 6 yr / 75,000 mile Extra Care plan w/ $0 deductible for $575.00, the 7 yr / 100,000 mile plan for $820.00, or the 8 yr / 125,000 mile plan for $1199.00 on the Corolla.
Worth it, compared to Midwest Toyota?

6 YEAR 100,000 MILES $619.00

EDIT: I don't think my Corolla qualifies for these anymore...FML. If that is the case, I may get rid of my car sooner than later. I blame myself for not thinking about this sooner, at least before April. Right now, I'm not sure if I have confidence that my Corolla will hold up like my RAV4 did, so time will tell.

I have confidence that my Corolla will last for many 100's of thousands of miles like my other Toyotas have over the years. There are several members that already have more than 100k miles on their 10th gens with no issues. We get too caught up in the few questions that people have about their car & IF it's even a problem, many of these things are just different from the previous car they owned. As they own the car longer they will get used to what is normal & what's not & all will be fine in Corolla land.

I too are not that worried about my Corolla. It's still as good as when new and have no problem. I'll use it for a few more years and if there's major breakdown, there's so many of them and wreckers have plenty of parts.

I doubt that I will be giving up on my car that soon, since I should have this paid off soon, and I'm preparing for the future for this car, like buying some parts ahead of time (just got the aFe, and TRD bar will go on soon).
However, the reason why I have some worries is because the EPS and moonroof had to be replaced. Had I needed to spend my own money on the EPS (warranty says its worth around $1000), I wouldn't have enough money to go out for one month.
My car was probably one of the earliest XRS's built (March '08). My powertrain warranty is still in effect so I'm OK. I still have this noise coming from the right wheel area that has yet to be properly diagnosed. While I did have a few issues with my RAV4 (built in Japan, as opposed to USA), replacing major components was something that was not done. Even many Toyota technicians will agree, they don't build them like they use to.
I have a good relationship with the service manager at the dealer I take my Corolla to (I once worked there one summer, worked for two Toyota dealers in my life), so I hope they will take care of it since it was noted during my warranty period.
