got into an accident today, this girl came out of the gas station, straight into traffic without stopping and basically drove right in front of the car. but the tow guy looks at the car and says they are not gonna fix it and call it totalled. but other ppl are thinking its fixable. i dunno what you guys think!?
the adjuster will go monday to the shop and see for himself and tell me whether theyre gonna start rebuilding or give me a check. so i do not know what the outcome is til monday.....

They will have to reweld your Passenger side apron back and replace that fender. Also your core support will be bent back and rewelded on. On a unibody car, that is considered frame damage. Likely be on a frame machine also. If insurance fixes your car then you better be raising hell to cover cost of depreciation because even if fixed, it won't hold the same resale value.

I am sorry to say that my policy came out a few years ago and said they will not cover the lost value of a crashed car when it comes to resale value I am sure most other insurance companies have followed suit since then. Insurance is a scam in large part IMHO. I have never been satisfied with any dealings with insurance be it home or auto.(I have always paid for the "Cadillac" policies and it still makes no difference) I just pray I never use it, at least then they are only getting you for the premium every month. (Sorry to get a little off topic but it really chaps me)
Many insurance companies now have stated in their policy that they will not pay diminished value claims.
Frankly, if it's your insurance company that is fixing it, they are only liable for fixing the car (or paying if it is totaled). They are not insuring the value of the car.
If it's the other party's insurance company that is paying, you have a better chance of proceeding with a diminished value claim. I would persue it if they decided to fix the car. In your case, I believe it will total.
This car looks repairable..when my car was involved in an accident it was valued at 16k in damages and I'm still waiting for the car to be completely fixed (3 months later) bc the car does not feel the same..ask for a tear down and make sure you tell the body shop and or insurance company that you have gap insurance..this would cover what you owe, but if I was you I'd request a new car..hope this helps
I just went through this on the loss of my Grand Am. Young lady just had to get into the local coffee shop ASAP and decided to take the front end of my car with her.
From my recent experience your damage goes way back into the engine compartment. I would say it is totalled as that is what they did to my car. As others have said, start looking for a new car. Sorry to hear about this but glad you are ok. Good luck!
