Clear Coat Peeling

I have a 2010 Corolla, leased it about 2 yrs ago. A few weeks ago I noticed the clear coat is peeling off the rear bumper. Anyone else having this problem?

usually clear coat will peel for two reasons,one it wasnt protected properly with wax or two,more common then people think,it was repaired by a shop due to a scratch or scuff and these shops dont use a high quality clear thus it peels after so long.Ive only had my clear peel once on me on a truck I had,waxed atleast 2-3 a month,but I found out it had been repainted,many shops get paid by insurance companies and to make a little extra money they skim on materials

or someone lightly tapped your bumper leaving no damage but cracked the paint? worth a guess

Thanks for the info! I leased it brand new (barely 2 yrs ago), the dealer I leased it from said they haven't had any work done to it, and I know I haven't. My guess is the clear coat is crap. I'm wondering if there are other people in my situation... I can't think of any reason my clear coat should be coming off...

ugh, threads like this one make me nervous. I had an 01 eclipse that had SERIOUS clearcoat issues..





Don't wanna go down that road again...

Additionally, it wasn't my fault, nor do I think it is yours. On my particular car it was a somewhat common problem which Mitsubishi did not care to own up to, for which reason I don't care to own a Mitsu again.

What color car are you having this with? Any pics?

At this point I don't think Toyota is owning up to their problem either. I'm scared that the longer I keep the car, the worse it's going to look. I don't have any pics a this point, but it's called "Blue Streak Metallic" It's UK blue w/ silver flakes. Beautiful color, and I want it staying that way, which is the reason this problem concerns me so much.
