Hey guys I've been doing my research and I've decided to go pop on a subwoofer for my "S" except I have a few questions (yes I've searched on these).
First off I want to use my stock HU and every other component just add a sub & amp to existing system, is there a way to do this with proper wiring(is there existing wires in trunk)? Or will I need to get a crossover?
Second is this a good sub, my cousin had an Orion brand and it really bumped, what I want is to feel a nice bass and have that rumble feeling if I crank it.. http://fresno.craigslist.org/ele/2430826496.html
Will I need any specific thing or can I run any amp with the speaker as long as it matches up? A freind of mine actually got a weaker amp than his speaker. I can just control the sub through the bass fader no?
You just need a high to low converter, which changes your speaker wire to rca which run to the amp. When finding an amp the important thing is to match the rms wattage, not the max watt.A kicker c10 is cost efficient while still providing great sound, plus its rated at 300 max and 150 rms, which in turn helps you out on the cost for an amp.
On that Orion sub the best amp for it would be a class d mono block which is 2ohm stable with a rms range of 400-600 rms. This amp would be good http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...-MRP-M500.html
if you can choose a amp that accepts high voltage input signals, some of them does the trick even if they dont have the inputs, they use the rca plugs, meaning you need to do some soldering and 95% of the time you have a selection switch for it, i think you should get professional help for this... choosing on opinions on the internet is quite risky!
Getting a professional to do it would be the best option if you havent done it before.but if you have any questions ive installed a lot of systems so i know what im doing
i had a JL W7 in one of my jeeps before with a 1000w slash series JL an nothing else in town could touch me, for cheaper you could get an alpine type X both are about the same power but the X wouldnt have as nice SQ
All you would need is a crossover. Before I got my aftermarket HU my Orion subs & amp were connected just fine. Oh and Orion is good shit. Got two 10s in a ported box, Knocks like hell when I crank it.
Thanks guys I'm going to get a professional to do the install, I've actually found a dual XXX sub/box/amp.. For 250$.. Okay so I can hook it to our factory head unit just need the high to low wire conversion and it's be fine? I jusT want to know what should be expected so I dont get ripped off in the install.. Anything else I'd need? Or not able to happen?
I would also suggest doing sound deadening when doing this!! My stock fronts and Kenwood 6x9 rears sound 100% better with even the cheap QuickRoof I put on, so can only imagine how good a GOOD setup would sound!

When installing any system you need a wiring kit usually a 4 or 8 gauge depending on what the amp needs also if you plan on using the stock head with a converter i would reccomend a line driver to ensure a good clean signal to the ampThey do sell all in one converters that have a line driver built in
You run a power line to where you want your amp, you run a ground from a bolt near your amp, you splice into the speaker wiring with quick splice connections, and run speaker wire from your amp to your sub. Done.
I hate paying for "professionals" though, not everyone is in that boat.
Tfc i agree these people over charge and hardly ever deliver but I'm getting a guy to do it for 25$.. And Greg I've already got it done doors and trunk might double the trunk too!! Also found a sub/box/amp all XXX brand for 200$
