Just purchased my 2011 Toyota Type-S!

Hey guys im new to the forum, i been reading threads on the type of mods you can do to a corolla, but i dont have much knowledge on mods right now so might need help in future. I just recently purchased a Toyota Corolla 2011 "S" Magnetic Gray Metallic color. With Moonroof, window tint, and premium carpet mats.

The first thing i want to do to my car is lower it, should i get coilovers or springs and which type is recommended? i dont want to slam my car on the ground, but definitely lower 1" to 2" from the original stock height. I also want to keep the ride smooth like it is right now. Also, were can i get the springs/coilovers installed, i have no experience in doing a self installation. so if anyone can please answer my question and help me out.

Hey welcome to the forums! And its not Honda so its not "Type-S" lol Just simply S. Anywho. If you want to go with a just a simple drop and keep the same comfortableness of the ride you might want to trd springs anything lower than that your looking a bouncier ride. I myself have coilovers but because i wanted the car on the ground.

to TN neil144 !!

First, you will probably get a bit of flak for calling your car a "Type-S", that is honda-speak around here.

Second the search function is pretty powerful on this site and most, if not all the questions you've have asked have multiple threads about already, give it a whirl and see what you find an then come and ask if you still can't find what you are looking for.

BTW, great color choice.

to TN!! just wondering if you got the 5spd manual or the auto?

and if you want to lower the car the TRD springs gives the car a mild drop while giving it better handling and still a relatively smooth ride. I installed by myself and with friends my k sport springs and handling has much improved but is more stiff and firm of a ride. I like it and no one has complained so far....even my parents! << older TN members will know that is quite a shock to me

you can probably do the installation yourself and save some money..just rent a spring compressor and it would help a million times more if you have a impact gun( the rears were a B%@#$ compared to the front)

congrats but not "type-S" again.

Just wonder where do people pick this up all the time? Corolla S, where is the "type" coming from.

There are plenty of lowering springs around for this car, use the search function, we have tons of info around.

Thanks guys, definitely will get use to calling it the S from now on haha. And yup the magnetic grey metallic was my favorite color, i also liked the black an white. but both colors are hard to keep clean. And i got a automatic.

How much drop does the TRD springs give? i heard numbers between 1"-2". im gonna start reading the stickies now also.

oh and i picked up type-S from my toyota sales rep. i went into the dealership and he was like "how can i help you".
i replied "i am interested in buying a corolla"
he replied "do you know what trim your interested in?"
me : "yes the S trim, the one that comes with the sports package."
him: "ahh, thats a nice choice. the type-s trim is very favorable within your age group"
lol he kept calling it a type S so it caught onto me.

k sport springs is the bang for the buck spring. i get alot of compliments on how nice the stance of my stock corolla looks. if youre looking into springs, you might want to consider ksports if your roads arent too rough.

Did anyone say it's not a "Type S"? Well it's not a "Type S" it's an "S". I would say you would like the TRD Springs and do it yourself, just have a buddy with you that is 190 lbs+ to help you compress the back springs. Those are a B-I-och to put the nut on (no pun intended). If you don't have the tools check craigslist for jack stands and a jack or you can spend the money on new stuff (Harbor Freight Tool works if you have one close). Just check the DIY section at the top of the postings (light blue section) on how to install the springs. I am no guru, but the posters on here have a lot of knowledge and experience . Good luck and

Get the K-Sports, the drop on the TRD springs is way too little IMO.

Recently just bought a 09 Corolla S

I recently just purchased my new 2009 Corolla S it's a nice vehicle overall but I mainly bought it for gas purposes. However, now I'm tempted to modify it and add a little speed to it to see how it does. The downside is that it is automatic so it might be a bit silly to install new parts but I'm stuck with this car for the next 4 years so I might as well have a little fun with it. Any suggestions on how I could do so?
