Maintenance Check

So the maintenance check light kept flashing after I start the car. It's not the start up light. It happens after the start up and it flashes for about 3-5secs and then disappears. Does anyone know why it does it? I'm going to take it in tomorrow to see but just incase they don't tell me whats going on, I want to know if you guys know what it means when it flashes.

In US corolla, that's time for service. Oil change. Your manual or do a search here will tell you how to reset it should you do service yourself.
It will not show on Canadian cars.

It begins blinking on start-up two or three hundred miles before coming on and staying on at the 5,000 mile interval.
