Aux In Question

Would anyone know here how to "enable" the AUX in?

I run into Diagnostics and I saw " AUX --" in LCD, which makes me think that my Radio is Electronically Aux in Ready but physically not able to do so maybe because due to lack of wiring, my unit didn't came with a Aux in port. Anyone here knows how I can enable such function?

Thanks.

on the us models, there are two sets of wiring in the connector that plugs the radio into the aux port. 1 set of wires carries the audio signal from the aux port to the radio itself. the other set of wires senses that something is plugged into the aux port and enables the aux setting on the radio.

i would first start off by pulling the radio and seeing if there is capabilities for an aux input and possibly some wiring for it to. it might be as simple as plugging some things in and buying an aux port.

Yes, that's right I must start first by knowing whether my radio can accept aux in, but where do I start? Which pins do I have to check?

If you pull out your radio and look in the back it should be the 20 pin plug.

I believe my radio is equipped with that kind of 20 pin connector, so what's next? How do I check whether my radio is AUX IN ready?

My apologies, it is not the 20 pin connector, its actually the 12 pin connector. You might have to ask someone to take a picture of their unit and compare it to yours. See which pins are missing.

I'll actually be taking apart my steering wheel to put the steering wheel controls in this week (if I have time), and I'll snap one for you.

I think I found on the net some information about the pins, but I am not sure how to test the AUX IN, I am afraid that connecting 2 wires might lead to short circuit. You can check this site http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11849. I don't know whether I shall connect body ground and AUX0 to test the AUX in.

So many AUX threads, so little time!

Here is a pic of the back of my S's radio, if it helps.

I ripped the guts out of my jack and used the faceplate and housing to mount a 3.5mm extension cable, and the other end will be plugged into my Car PC. Just mounted a card-reader/usb/2.5"-drive-bay in where the security and seatbelt lights used to be too. Now I've gotta figure out what I want the other blank to be...........

I would assume all the wiring to be present, both in the radio and in your factory harness. I've found so many little white ends throughout the car which serve me no purpose, but must be for something for someone. I'm guessing most stuff is cheaper for them to just make 1 off with no changes.
