Question Installing Clarion (Front+Back) with 2-Way Passive Crossover

hello all

doing my first 'mod' if you will to my new XRS. It's almost 2 months old, and needless to say, the stock sound system is brutal.

A local store was having Clarion Days, so I grabbed a pair of 6x9's and got a pair of 6 1/2's for 70% off... both were the best Clarion in the store, paid a cool $300 for both pairs after taxes.

The guy said my car was already amplified so I didn't need an amp, and don't really have any desire for a sub. Installation was going to be $300, and I thought I might be able to do it myself and save the money.... WRONG! maybe on cheaper speakers with 1 hookup, but these speakers seem to be more complicated than that...

as you can see, the "2-Way Passive Network" has 6 terminals, as follows:

1. INPUT (-)
2. INPUT (+)
3. OUTPUT / TWEETER (-)
4. OUTPUT / WOOFER (+)
then a line branches off the TWEETER from #3, and..
5. OUTPUT / 0db (+)
6. OUTPUT / +3db (+)

then, also from the picture, there is 3 hookup locations on the actual speaker. 2 wires feed through the speaker, coming from the tweeter. Then there is a bracket right below the cone with 2 more hookups (+/-). The one on the bottom (near the magnet?) has 4 prongs... 2+, and 2-.

I'm guessing the INPUT terminals are used by the wire coming from my amp/deck/power source (whatever comes stock). So, if there are a total of 8 prongs on the speaker (4+/4-), how the hell do i decide which three to use as the positives and which 1 to use for the negative???

i've read the other posts about making fitting brackets and so on, and have that part down ok, panels are off and everything, but i desperately need help with this part. I've been looking all day and can't find much online....

thanks in advance!

It appears you can get the manual or installation manual online from clarion.

That is an odd way to wire up a component set. My pioneer components were simply +/- input, +/- Tweeter +/- woofer on the crossover, and required no connection between the tweeter and woofer. Also, I believe there was something I could twist either on the crossover or tweeter itself for increasing or decreasing DB level for the tweeter.
