is the TRD package anygood?

Hi guys! I just recently bought my car. It's a black 2011 Corolla S. Its a great car and everything, but it just that i'm bored with the way it look. Not to mention the huge wheel gap between the tire and the underlining of the vehicle. That got to go, or at least be improved on. Also, i would like to improve on the vehicle performance. I'm talking everything from the front bumper all the way to the exhaust tip. I'll be heading to the dealership pretty soon. So, i'm just brain storming what to add onto my vehicle until then.

well congrats on the purchase and yes the wheel gap is absolutely horrible. well you can start off with the TRD sway bar, strut bar and stabilitzer bar. and then if you want a decent drop then the Tein H techs, k sports, Eibachs are all good options(for 9th gen corolla). for mild drops then it would be TRD, and more heavy drop then the Tein S techs or coilovers(better option IMO) then you need to get all the UR bars(Ultra Racing) and then any optional axle back exhaust(most popular so far are the universal borla or magnaflow or even the more expensive cat backs by the same brands. if you car is a 5spd manual then of course get a short throw shifter. and get the pivot throttle controller or any other off brand. Then there are many big branded named intakes available and as well as headers. Now there is even a custom header/midpipe combo available. There are some under drive pulleys. <<tons more performance wise...cosmetically you have your typical rims and the drop I mentioned. Then there is the roof spoiler (either carbon fiber or color matched) several front lips, led tail lights, yellow fog vinyl or film or both, HID's, led's (inside and out), tint, painting of emblems, tn decal, VW GTI styled red line around the grill....well you get the idea.

there is a search function that even helps me out find things to research upon.

oh and I wouldn't buy too much from the dealer as they are usually quite expensive unless you can get them to price match to popular online retailers.

there is a list of diy's up on top of every page of this section of the forum and dont forget to check out "what did you do to your corolla today," "chat thread," "the pic thread" etc. if there are any questions let us know and im sure someone will chime in and answer it. Phew Im tired x.x

oh and to TN!

all to his own :P Look at the pictures and the what did you do to your corolla sticky threads lol.

uhm, IMO I think that going to the dealership for 'mods' is not really worth it since th price for labour and parts is more than its really worth

RPM Header and Midpipe

If you get a chance, take a look at the "RPM Header and Midpipe Group Buy" thread. We have designed a full length header and midpipe package, as well as a high flow midpipe that can be used with the stock exhaust manifold.

Thanks,

RPM

to TN! You need to know that the Corolla is just a Corolla S & not a Corolla type S. Honda uses the "type" for their cars.

There are a lot of things to do to your Corolla. I have a S 5-speed & it's so fun to drive after the mods I've done.

If you're really "bored" with how it looks and got the budget for it here's a recommended list for ya from me...just IMO

I'm sure it's just maybe the OEM front lip you're a little bored of...try going on eBay and there's a bunch from front lips that you can get that can go with your side skirts and rear lip (Dimaoala's car for example) if not, sell your OEM body kit to me :P

For headlights, unless you want to go CCFL Halo which I hear mixed reviews about, grab an affordable pair of eyelids to match your vehicle's color...it can be either the vinyl or the solid one...I can personally vouch for the vinyl ones. eBay

As far as lowering your car...msncorolla has some good points...from what I heard though TRD is the most modest drop which is little to nothing...Eibach is a little lower but you won't grind speed bumps anytime soon...anything lower than those refer to msn's advice

Exhaust, like msn said, Borla or Magnaflow...I personally would go for the Borla 11795 because it's just a simple (or kinda simple) axle-back to fully bolt on with little to any difficulty

Since you have an S, you already have the wing I presume. ChancreSolex I believe has precut tail light films he's selling if you're interested in a little tint. Definitely would go for a roof spoiler to color match or a carbon fiber (which I think goes best with the white rollas)

Rims...there's a huge thread I'd do some research

Tailights...you definitely gotta go with the ShftMod LED Tail lights...

Then there's the little things...like license plate lights, interior lights, ledstrip headlights if you want...smoked out or yellow foglights...and some decals will add a nice personal flavor if you want...

the possibilities are ENDLESS!!!!!!! ...well sorta...

What about a supercharger for the 2zr-fe motor? Does anybody have any news on that?! A supercharger combo with rims, lowered ride, and a few interior and exterior modifications would be FUCKING AWESOME! And another thing, i wonder if any modification i do to the car would void the warranties i have on the vehicle?

lol well I can't say I'm much for forced induction on a corolla...but I do know that I believe turbokits.com is currently in the process of making one for the 2ZR-FE...I'd be patient as for warranties...I forgot the name of the warranty act...but basically...if you install an aftermarket part and it's responsible for something broken, then you void your warranty.

on the warranty thing....only if was deemed that that mod had caused the problem then thats when it voids the warranty but on that part only. if you changed your intake and you sucked in water and hydrolocked your engine then the engine would be voided and whatnot...someone correct me if I'm wrong

and yes the turbokits.com stuff is being discussed somewhat and there is a aftermarket supercharger available as someone does have (on a 1zr-fe 1.6l)

I'm using all TRD parts and the reason why I did all TRD is because its covered under warranty and secondly if you finance the accessories in the loan you are saving a bunch of money on your parts like 0% financing vs. 19% credit card.

IMO, I got the best bang for the buck are the springs and strut tower for handling. I did everything in stages so I felt the progression in changes. The rear sway didn't do much but its nice to have the entire set. With the TRD springs I'm not as worry about speed bumps and pulling up to a curb when parking.

Awesome! It's great hearing that you went for the TRD package, cuz that is exactly what i'm going for! Thanks for the helpful information and thanks everyone else for yours also.

I never pay interest on my credit cards since I pay them off every month. If you can't afford a mod than save up your money vs. paying interest on a credit card. Financing it at 0% is okay if the price of the TRD parts wasn't too high. If the dealer charged you more than the price of the parts bought & installed by you than maybe the deal isn't as sweet as it could have been. The TRD parts though are a great performance package for the handling department.

I wished i would have been inform about the TRD package when i was getting ready to take the vehicle home. Now, after a visit to the dealership, i was told by one of the part sales guy that i couldn't add the parts and installation cost to my monthly car notes. I just have to pay everything upfront. Gayy...

Just buy the parts as you can afford them. The springs, RSB & FSB are not that expensive. Than install them yourself for nothing.
