I'm renting a 11 Corolla! My review....

So in the meantime until I find something different I've gotten a '11 Corolla (its obvious what happened).

2 things: Whats with the daytime running lamps, lights always on? Is that a rental feature that's rigged?

Also...the stereo system seems a bit weak. On my 96 Camry I had a $80 Sony CD player that when I plugged in the AUX I needed only to turn the volume to about 29 to 35 when my MP3 was turned all the way up. In the Corolla I'm having to turn it up to 50-60 just to be 'loud'

Other than that...pretty comfty. The new makeover they did to the grills of all the Toyota cars really makes the Corolla looks like it belongs LOL. It also seems to be about the same size as my 96 Camry was which means they've gotten roomier...

I'm not used to driving a car with less than 200,000 miles on it LOL. The lack of 'roar' (which is probably the sound of worn out aluminum) in the motors of new cars kind of feels like the car isn't working hard enough LOL.

The volume number really means very little as all HU's use their own "scale" but the standard stereo is not the best to be certain. I have the JBL option on my 09 Corolla which is excellent & much better but not an option on the 11 model. An easy upgrade though for an owner. I do love my 09 Corolla though. I think it's an excellent car in most every way.

DRL is normal on all cars.
I just learned the 11's do not have auto lights as our 09"s
10 gen Corollas is same sized as your 96 Camry but gives much better mileage.

Well...it's just that with the Best Buy Sony radios...turning it up past 30 would risk damaging the speakers. And they could go upwards of 50-60. It was generally louder if a CD was in rather than an AUX.

Maybe I'll play some CDs to see if I get a better sound. It did need some 'adjusting' to the controls though so it doesn't sound that bad anymore. Either that or I just got used to it LOL.

But I agree...Corolla is nice.

Yeah, I'd like to find out...I'm sure I'll be getting better mileage. In the mountains, I can generally get about 420-450 miles before my tank hits 1/4 in the 96 Camry.

At that rate, the Corolla should get me about 500 miles if I'm going 55-65 for 250 miles and then 75 for the other 250 miles?

And since I'm driving a newer car/rental I get to run it down to the needle...something I cringed at doing in my Camry :-P

Just keep in mind that cars have different sized gas tanks, so you can't compare different cars based on the miles per tank, unless they have the exact same capacity. Frankly, IME, you'll never get anywhere near 500 miles on a tank in a corolla.

I was going to say the same thing, range will be similar but you will use less fuel since the Corolla tank is smaller. Range will be closer to 350-400 miles at 1/4 tank.

I hate filling up the camry rental vs. my corolla. The gas goes so much faster then what Im used to and cost more to fill FML. I miss the corolla!
