VSC Issues

Recently, I was driving on a road that I've driven more times than I can count, and I had my VSC activate through a bend. The car wasn't understeering or oversteering, it was cornering as expected... but the VSC killed power and started applying the brakes to prevent what it expected was a spin. The road was bone dry and I even just had new tires put on the car, so traction wasn't an issue. I ended up assuming I may have been a bit more aggressive than normal (although I know I wasn't). When I got closer to my destination I took another bend (about an 80 degree bend), this time I wasn't being the least bit spirited and the VSC cut in hard once again.

Has anyone else had this experience or is my Corolla finally trying to kill me?

That just happened to me last week. Road was bone dry and just got 4 new tires a month before. I just blew it off as hitting the turn too fast, but now I get a little nervous when I'm hitting turns without slowing down. Definitely a little scary when something like that happens.

As i recall i've ripped it through turns at a much faster pace than the ones that triggered mine. I'm worried some sensor is starting to crap out. I already had one rear speed sensor fail on me a while back.

After you start the car, but before you start to drive; push and hold the VSC button until both VCS and ABS lights come on. This will disable the safety feature and let you push the car as hard as you want (within your/the cars limits) Doesn't technology suck!?!

I knew about the override, but my concern is the car suddenly deciding its limits are far less than what it has already been exposed to. I've only had the VSC turn on once before when I purposely got the car sideways in some deeper snow. Other than that, it has never turned on with dry pavement, or even wet pavement above freezing temps.

I was just joking. If you are still under warranty take it to a dealer and make them replace it. Otherwise go somewhere you can get a free scan to see if you're throwing any codes, then go from there.
