Another Plasti Dip Question (I know, I'm sorry)

I've been wanting to do this for my rims for a while now. Just have a few questions about doing this that I want to clear up...
1) Should you use primer before applying?
Some say yes, some say not needed.

2) Can I do it without unmounting my tires with good results?
I have no jack stands for it, so it gonna be one tires at a time.

3) For those who have done this already, how many cans are needed for a complete set of rims?

you talking about painting right?
if soo, depends what color

when ii went with green. ii went straight to it after sanding nd cleaning. turned really good

did my friends mazda6 primed painted cause we thought he was gonna go with white. but went blk instead. still looked good.

well point is go with prime if ur going with bright colors.

With good amounts of coat. 1 can for 2 wheels. so if primed .. 2 cans of prime nd 2 cans of paint. if just paint then 2 cans of paint.

ii would not do it with the wheel mounted to the car. I say 2 jacks would do it just because u still want to make sure the first one dries enough to slap it back on while you work on the second wheel

well for plasti-dipping you need to take the tire off unless you want your entire wheel well all ugly and blotchy with spray paint

no need to sand ...and depending which color you CAN prime. like my friend did gold and we did black plasti dip and then white and then gold and turned out great<<in that order

and we used for his 14'' rims 2 cans of plasti dip and then 2 cans of gold(or whatever color you choose)

For color im just going with black, not spray painting. I meant i'm taking the tire/rim off the car but can it be done with the tire still on the rim? Can I just tape/mask off the tire? I have no garage to unmount the tires nor do I want to pay to have it done.

just spray the plasti dip a few coats and let dry for a little (30min) per coat and yes just mask it off. and just use the tire iron in your trunk or a highly suggested torque wrench. Don't think about paying someone for a 2 min job.

FlawedLegacy and I did both our sets simply by wiping them down with 90% isopropyl alcohol to strip the wax off. Its found at any supermarket or convenience store. We then masked them off and shot em. I used one can for each wheel.

My lips are polished and its stuck on there good.

Ill post a better pic tomorrow when image at a real computer.
