Canada Amplifier/Subwoofer install advise needed!

Hey everyone,

I recently had an aftermarket JVC deck installed along with an MTX custom 10 speaker system in my 2010 Corolla. I will post pictures shortly. I plan on installing a mono amp & a single 10" sub in my car and I was wondering if there will be potentially any battery/alternator/electrical issues with our 10th gen Corollas?

Here's my set up:

1. JVC KW-XR810 head unit (with 2 RCA pre-outs)
2. MTX speakers (4 front tweeters, 2 front door woofers, 2 rear tweeters, 2 rear deck woofers)
3. Alpine MRP-M500 amp (500W @ 2 ohms, 300W @ 4 ohms)
4. MTX 10" subwoofer (no clue which one - my friend is just giving it to me)
5. Bassworx CS10 subwoofer enclosure
6. Stinger 8 gauge install kit (capable upto 600W)
7. Stinger/Precision Acoustics 1 farad capacitor (haven't bought it yet)

I don't really want thumping rattling bass at high wattage; however, I am going to tune it to get a decent smooth OOMPH mild bass at preferably 300W (or 500W MAX).

My only concern is whether or not I will be causing damage to the battery/alternator?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

Nope. I'm running a bridged 600w Kenwood 2ch to a DVC Fosgate 10" and a 400w Fosgate 4ch to four Memphis MClass 6.5's off the stock 2006 battery in my tC with no issues. All installed/checked over by a friend who is a sales rep for Memphis Audio.

The cap in your set up is unnecessary. I wouldn't waste the cash on it. ...tho if you really want it, I have one I'll sell super cheap. I used it when I had two 10's in my Corolla. PM me if you're interested.

haha man your setup is way more intense than mine (mine is a baby setup compared to yours).

Does your car (trunk/body/cabin) rattle due to the sub?

What kind of cap do you have? Price?

lol. I don't even listen to rap or hip hop all that much.

Yes, my shit rattles but not from the bass. I'm slammed on coilovers. If I'm sitting still with the bass up there's some tight vibration but there's way more rattling and creaking from the suspension when I'm driving on a rough road. The only thing I did do was pad the back side of my license plate and put a single patch of sound deadener on the large flat quarter sections behind my doors. They would ring like a muther.

One nice feature my buddy wired up for me was a $14 independent bass level control knob. With the crossovers set up correctly I can leave the hu bass setting in one spot and crank the sub way up when the mood strikes.

this setup could be a nice tutorial for those who want some serious sound in their cars.
