USA 09 Corolla Performance HELP!!!!

Hello everyone! First off im new to the forum and have no idea what im doing when it comes to performance. I've read a bunch of things on this forum stating its not worth to upgrade a 09 Corolla s. But to me, even the tiniest bit of speed and torque is worth it, better then stock atleast. But Ill list what i was thinking of getting:

Borla exhaust kit. {Mostly for the sound :]}
Weapon R dragon cold air intake/ and or a dc cold air intake {which ever is better}
Unichip Performance Computer.

yea i know its a pathetic list! LOL but i mean i think im on a good start considering i cant really do much anyways. Now my question is how much HP can i expect to gain from these items?
Also i mostly just wanna be able to accelerate quicker. I was thinking a throttle response controller?( if someone could explain actually what it is and how it works it would make more sense to me cuz rite now im clueless) I have a 5 speed manual so i know there has to be something i can buy thats gona make it jump quicker.

Anyways thanks for reading and who ever replies.

For power enhancement & improved driving fun you are on the right track. I'm not sure if anyone has tried the Unichip yet.

1. Exhaust - Borla, Magnaflow
2. Headers & Midpipe - RPM
3. Intake - Takeda, K&N, Weapon R, etc.
4. Throttle Controller - Pivot, etc
5. Pulleys - NST

Don't forget better handling either!

1. Lowering Springs - TRD, Eibach, Tein, etc.
2. Bars - TRD, Ultra Racing, etc.
3. Wheels & Tires

There is plenty of info on here, just learn to use the search function.

haha ok thats good to know. Now question what exactly does the throttle response controller do? Im assuming that it makes your acceleration a lil bit quicker, right now im shifting at about 4000-4500 RPM, But coming out of first to second and goin from second to third its super slow. I really wanna work on acceleration. Any suggestions?

Throttle controller basically just modifies the pedal sensitivity...basically you can floor it much quicker without actually having to floor it...

I heard that to fix up the low end acceleration...it would help to get the NST Underdrive Pulley

I recommend doing the foot work first.. Makes a huge difference. The only reason is because our car doesnt really output that much power with aftermarket parts.. So really there isnt much the car can get for more HP unless you go turbo.

Footwork is important as I feel the car is very unsteady on windy days.. Which TRD springs helps out alot. Then go with atleast a FSB then maybe a RSB (buy both with the springs and save shipping). FSB and RSB really helps in the on ramp offramps.. Just makes the car so much smoother in corners..

Intake and Exhaust is a good decision but it really doesnt improve much. Although it makes the car sound wicked.
Also I believe there is a new Header out but Not to sure of the numbers its pulling.

How the throttle controller works is for example if you depress the gas 25% of the way.. The throttle controller will change it to lets say 40%.. So even thought your giving little gas the system will boost it since our pedal is drive by wire. I mostly find it useful for passing on the hwy. For starting off a red lights it doesnt make a difference cause if you go 100% it goes 100%.

My car has the bars and springs but nothing compared to SuperchargedMR2's car.. But when I go on the twisty cruises with my buddies (evo's and tonnes of modded cars) they are all very suprised my car can keep up in the corners extremely well. But in those straights I just get raped but you cant do much since its a corolla..

Honestly, do the I/h/e first, as you'll feel/hear the effects and THEN do the throttle controller

(while I sold mine because of books etc after figuring out how it work if you know how to control throttle you can easily replicate it)

Of course then you can do the suspension mods, (DRAWP IT FIRST!!!!) that makes the largest difference I believe

Alright thanks guys sounds like a decent start.. Im not trying to race or nothing just wanna be quick off the start. But ill defiantly look into the headers and midpipe and of course the exhaust. I wanna try the pulleys and i wanna get the uni-chip just for shits and giggles... ill start from the back first n work my way up. Not sure if i wanna invest on the throttle just yet. LOL ill be the throttle instead of some machine doing it for me. Anyways thanks for all the info really appreciate it and it helped out.

Now my other question is where i can get pre-cut smoked taillight film? . I think the corolla would look nasty with smoked taillights and a chrome trim around them. Dont think ive seen that on here yet. Hopefully i can be the first! Im going for the chrome look. :]

My 09 Corolla S is also a 5M & it's much quicker from a standing start than when it was stock, at least from a seat of the pants feel which is fine with me since I'm not racing it. I love the throttle controller because seldom do I drive around flooring the throttle to accelerate so it "feels" like it's much quicker while giving it less throttle. I also like how I can adjust the throttle response depending on driving conditions, this is a big advantage of a DBW system.

I still need to add the NST pulley which will free up another 5 hp & every positive amount of hp is welcome.

Be careful where you put that chrome...in some places it'll look extremely tacky...

Try hitting up ChancreSolex...I know he sells precut tail light films but not sure about the smoked...

otherwise you can either bring your tail lights to a tinting shop or do it yourself with a heat gun and exacto knife

as said, chancre makes the precut red and smoke films. Look AMAZING!

As far as the chrome look, not for me, but what trim do you have? CE/LE/S/XRS? If you have S or XRS. I would be very interested to swap headlights. My housings are chrome, which would go with what you want. LMK!

yeah, wow... XRS. No, I'd much rather buy new housings or swap with someone. Headlights are something I can't mess up. Not worth the risk. Heck, I found the stock housings for $75 each on eBay. Not worth it IMO!
