also shouldn't automatic transmission oil last longer? we didn't change the oil on my civic till like 90k, and that was just because the shifts werent as smooth as when we got it. and honda doesn't recommend a change until 100k.
not meaning to question ya just wondering lol seems a little expensive to change the transmission oil every 30k

haha, there's been so much discussing about the auto transmission fluid change that I'm still not sure wtf I'm gonna do. My car has 28k miles on it and the trans fluid is still bright red (checked it when I changed my oil). So I'm not going to worry about it until maybe 50k or later.
If I remember correctly, the transmission fluid is just a bit more $ than an oil change so it's not that pricey.
All this said, Toyota says it's fine until like 100k (I think that's what my trans fluid plug says). Check it every time you change your oil and make sure it's red. If it's brown/dirty, I'd seriously consider changing it, regardless of mileage. I've spent a lot of miles around my college town, driving short trips on highway (<4 miles with lots of interchanges) for work, and high speed hilly highways with lots of shifts down to third on my transmission, and drive fairly spirited a lot of the time and it still shifts like butter and the fluid is bright red. Transmission (and fluid) isn't a big concern, in my extremely humble opinion. Toyotas are built like tanks (that's why I bought my Rolls)
