Availiable to most 2009 and newer models is the Bongiovi DPS Acoustic amplifier.Has anyone purchased this and can you really tell the difference with the unit installed in your vehicle?

I have a 2010 Corolla XRS with the 6speaker system ( Canadian Version )

Please let me know if this is a waste of money.

There was a small review by someone here on TN...a search should bring a few threads up, I don't believe the review was favorable.

I put one in a base matrix and it made a quite a difference. I'd buy it if you're not looking to go aftermarket.

The Bongiovi unit is an amplifier and a processor all in one. For the audiophile, the reviews have not been favorable but for any other customer off the street the unit sounds great.

If you simply want to amplify your system, you can splice the Alpine power pack into your head unit. It's 45W RMS and will give you good sound quality. It's also cheaper, roughly $125.

The Bongiovi unit is still assuming you will be using the Toyota speakers which are probably around 20W RMS at most.
