Some of you (possibly) know me from the 'tex, and a few other VW forums.
I'll just sit this one here:
But, a few months ago, my daily driver was just getting old. See below:
Bottom line; with a new job, I was worried about how much quality time I was going to be spending on the old girl. Not to mention a 100 mile commute every day.
So, I got this:
I've had it since April this year and so far has been great. I've had one problem though; the car does not like large foxes:
So, with that in mind, yes, I am pretty pissed off.
And here I was thinking that I would be getting some parts to get rid of the awful understeer, but no. I get to buy a new bumper cover and try to match the paint.
Did I mention that it's going to suck to find a body shop good enough to do that?
welcome! man that sucks to hear/see especially since its a 2011
well im pretty sure if you search online you can find a bumper cover that comes shipped color matched.
might be a little more expensive but some of the guys here have purchased their lip spoilers and other parts online and had them shipped color matched and it looks pretty freaking good.
hopefully you get everything squared away! good luck

to TN & congrats on your new Corolla. Sorry to see that you had an encounter with a fox. After you fix that you can start with your lowering springs, RSB & FSB to make it handle 100% better!

Nice MK2 GTI? You go on TCL? I lurk there a lot like many Toyota owners...anything made by the Big T isn't a "darling" over there. Glad you have a Corolla as a beater
Heh, yeah, I guess you could say the Corolla is my new beater, lol.
But, it is (was) new, and nice and shiny. It's nice to be able to wash and wax the car.
Well, at least I'm scheduling to get it fixed next week.
After that, assuming I hit no other objects that directly impact the cosmetic and functionality bits of the car, I don't know what I'll get next. The understeer is pretty awful, and the hubcaps aren't much prettier.
But winter is coming soon, quite possibly not the right time to start lowering the vehicle.
The way I see it, it's still not a race car. The GTI is the fast toy, when it ran. The Corolla just gets good fuel mileage, and is peppy at best.
I'll put it this way; I only fill up once a week in the Corolla vs. two times in the Neon. And, as a bonus, my A/C works. I get the mileage of the old car easily with A/C on, and once (only once) achived 44 MPG going back home.
Well, I should be getting the old girl back today. Good thing too; the other car I've been driving has an issue with the ABS wiring harness going to the speed sensors, and thus likes to activate the traction control and or ABS at will. Luckily, a pair of needle nose pliers to work as a fuse puller solves that problem until I have a chance to rewire the entire harness.
Not to mention my fuel mileage has gone way down; probably due to a 3.8L V6. But the power is great for passing on the narrow state roads
I hope that it comes back looking like a new car. Then I can think about getting a SRI, and some springs. Probably will work on getting some summer wheels and tires later. Winter is coming soon
