Only got charged 1 hour labor, and part was available from Napa.
Less Than $200 total.

Even better, My mechanic fixed it on a friday afternoon without an apointment.
Damn I love my Mechanics:

Very nice, sounds like Toyota quality to me.

+1.
At that mileage, a complete engine and drive train replacement would'nt be a surprise.

It would be for a Toyota. I've never had to replace an engine under 300k miles on any Toyota that I or my family have owned.

For me it would be a complete surprise with older Chevys, VWs & Fords as all of them have lasted past 181,000miles with no engine work and very little else other that routine stuff into it. I have never (or will) ever owned a Dodge so I can't speak for them.

My last Toyota was a 1980 Toyota Tercel and it had well over 400K miles on and it was still going mighty strong....

If any car can't last past 200K miles its garbage IMO.

I had an 82 Tercel that I loved! It had a 4 speed MT & I put 325k miles on the original engine. It was going strong & ran great with no issues but I put in a 4AG from an MR2. Talk about it being a sleeper car. That little thing was quick.

193,000 and still going strong

My first Toyota was a 1981 1/2 Corolla SR5 Sports Hardtop - Bought for $100 with Blown Motor(185,000 miles)
Recycled Japanese Motor & a bunch of Beer for my mechanic - on the road for under $500
Drove that Gem another 4 years and 120,000 miles. Sold for $1200 - Sad to see it go

I've had a Corolla just leave the family...
Person 1 bought it, sold it to Person 2 after 150,000 miles. I bought it with 180,000 miles, wife drove it until 210,000. I sold it to father-in-law who just sold it at 268,000 miles. Sucker runs like a champ still.

WITH CARE, these suckers will outlast most of the cars on the road.

Just curious what made you believe the water pump was in need of replacement?
