Auto insurance for teens.

So right now we have allstate and our rates doubled from $1200 for 6 months to $4800 for 6 months because of the accident that happened 7 months ago. We are now looking for a different insurance company with low rates. any suggestions?
Los angeles, CA
Edit: i meant $200 a month, and im not in that insurance. geico quoted us $2200 for 6 months including me

You should say which city/state/province you in ... some city/state/province may have certain companies that other state/city/province doesn't have

Dam 2000 before is still pricey. Are you on your parents insurance. +1 for the geico. I pay 600 6 months. 18 year old. Under parents insurance.

I have Liberty Mutual here in MA and I think my insurance is reasonable.. It's like $1,900 for the year. It will drop to $1400 in May of 2012, that will be my 3rd anniversary of having my license. I'm 19- three speeding tickets, one accident.

Well this may not be an option but if you have anyone in your family that is in the military or has been I would get USAA have them grandfather you in. I couldnt say on what the rates would be for you but thats the insurance I used when I was younger and still at my old age(some sarcasm). Anyways they always seem to have very good rates and my rate was very cheap when I was in my teenage years. When comparing insurance rates with other friends of mine my rates always seem to be much much lower. Of course different cars, companies and histories so not very accurate. They do very well and have lots of good policies though. even something thats like 25 cents a month that prevents them from raising your rate due to accidents, tickets and what not.

maybe it went up that much because two vehicles were involved.

If you are a young driver with accidents and/or tickets you are screwed. Rates will be sky high from most any insurance company due to your driving risk.

I dont have tickets on my record...perfectly clean but I did have the one break in which is no fault of mine and then the past one it was just me and didn't have to do with anyone else and trust me....my mom would tell me if it went up that much.. but hey you never know, they might change it
