An unfortunate series of incidents

I bought my corolla on November 22nd of last year from Kay Jennings in Springfield, Va. It was love at first sight. Silver 5-speed S. All that I have for a modification (if you wanna call it that) are red LED interior footwell lights. (THEY'RE SEXY) Anyway, since I've had my car, I've noticed a strange grinding when shifting into 4th gear (it went away but I read that there's a TSB for it, should I get it looked at anyway?) My car was crashed into 3 times, broken into, vandalized, I tore my rear bumper off reversing over a curb and last month I drove through a gigantic puddle (it was raining really bad and I SEVERELY underestimated its size. ) I drove it home. The next day I turned it on and had a weird raspy sound to it in the exhaust. The sound went away and I noticed that i've lost a little bit of power in my car. Whenever I turn left or right as well, it gets raspy again as well. ): I HATE EVERYTHING I WANT MY BABY UP AND RUNNING PERFECTLY LIKE I BOUGHT HER ON DAY ONE.

oh yeah, i bought the extended warranty as well. Halp ):

to TN. I understand your love for your car. I have a CSM 5-speed too! I would have the noise checked though for the 4th gear. I've never heard of any TSB for it. Mine shifts butter smooth at 30k miles.

As far as everything else.....just be careful after you get the car fixed!

As far as the shifting:
I haven't looked at TSB's for about 9 months, but the only TSB I know of for the C59's shifting (the 1.8L's 5-speed manual) is T-SB-0282-10, which is for grinding when shifting into 3rd gear ONLY.

I actually had my transmission replaced at 26,000 miles because of that TSB. (The TSB calls for taking the transmission out and tearing it apart to replace a spring, but my dealer had a 6-month wait on the special service parts. NOT going to argue!)
With that said, I'm not impressed with the shifting of this transmission. It's not horrible (my work's F-350 was horrible!), but not nearly as smooth as the 1986 Honda CRX or 1989 Civic hatchback I had.

By the way, warranty on the Powertrain (US cars) is 60-months/60,000 miles, not 36-months/36,000 miles (so you know).

I know how it feels. I've lost count of the accidents I've had with my brother's corolla and I totaled by 2nd hand 99 corolla the day I bought it.

I know I have problems driving and have already identified them but I just can't mend my ways.

My main problem is with pedals.

I don't use my feet as it is supposed to. I randomly use any foot I get for any pedal. I also have a habit of retracting my shoe away from the pedal and when I need it again I miss the pedal many times. Many times I also hit gas instead of brake and vice versa and this has led to accidents. Also I drive in 5 inch stilettos so when I do get hold of the pedals they slip off. My only bid accident was because of this.

NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!!! BAD, VERY BAD IDEA!!!

Use one foot for gas pedal and brake, you build muscle memory and your brain gets used to doing things instead of confusing it all the time.
You are asking for something bad to happen to you and are creating a risk to yourself and other drivers by doing what you said you do (I'm sorry if I sound harsh, but this is bad).

Please, please, please, listen to the advice you are given, I'm assuming you're young, but you need to learn early. Old saying "learn from the mistakes of others", heed that advice.

You even said so yourself that alternating feet on the pedals has led to accidents and that your heels slip off the pedals, these are messages that say "change your habits". All of the accidents you say you have been in because of these habits can be changed, it takes practice and a conscious effort to change, you can't snap your fingers on this, just have to make it happen.

I'm an Emergency Medical Technician, I've seen lots of car accidents that could have been prevented had the driver been paying attention and driving properly and safely. So, from someone who has seen the worst, please, take the advice.

Please do. I hate to see/hear about people getting into accidents, especially young people (I'm young myself...but still).
