Radar Windshield Mount Option?

Hey guys, new to the forum. I've read the two old threads about corolla radar windshield mounts, but they were a little old. Looking for some advice and pictures of some mounting options. My first choice is right above the rear view mirror, but from holding my Valentine one up there, i think i'll have to move the rear view down.
Also. should i wire it into the dome lights and always have the power on? or run the power down either the front pillars (but it has side airbags...), or the middle pillars and down to the the rear cigarette adapter.
Also kicking around the concealed display. If i were ever to install it, it would be when i put the detector in..

Advice?/Pictures? Thanks!

Isn't Radar Detector illegal to have? [well in Canada it is]

Plus I think the police radars have radar detectors to detect you have one :P

Apparently, some places in Canada are okay. Here, in British Columbia, it's perfectly legal to have a radar detector. But Laser detectors or jammers are not legal whatsoever.

Radar detector detectors are only used in the US.

I would not mount it that high... the tint in the window will absorb some of the signal. Plus it renders the side useless. best spot i have found is just below the rear view mirror. It has to see just like us.. headrests will block and the pillars. If you are set about hardwiring in, I would find a switches 12v source and tap that. Personally, I prefer mine portable.

+1 I like mine portable & mount it just below the rearview mirror, works great! V1 FTW!

As far as the tint up there, I would defiantly remove the bubbles directly in front of the receiver.
I'm a little confused what you mean by it renders the side useless, the sesonors are on the front and back of the V1, so as long as those are clear your good. And the headrests and side pillars would cause more interference the lower the unit is, right? So the higher the unit it the better for seeing, as long as there is a straight line to the front and back (parallel to the ground).
I'm looking at the blend mount as an alternative, just wish it wasn't $80! I would still hard wire the power, just don't know if im gonna go all the way to switched power (which one did you guys use?) or just wire it to the map light.

What i meant by tint is the tint built in the window. Do not tap into the lights. I would tap into the lighter circuit or radio circuit if you are hardwiring.
