need help with a blinking warning light

On Wednesday my mother realized a light that she never seen before came on. It is next to the passenger airbag indicator light, above the clock and it only blinks when car is off. The symbol look like a car with a pad lock on it. I called the dealership one of the technician told me that it has something to do with security issue. He said that if I don't get it fixed, one day the car will not recognize the key. He said that could be the car or the key. Later I made made an appointment with the dealership. I took the car in. But I got a different service person. He said that there is nothing wrong with the car. That light is suppose to blink because the key is not in the ignition. He said that he ran two diagnostics and nothing showed up. He also showed me two other car that have the same same blinking light, a car with pad lock, when the key is not in the ignition.
Could someone confirm this for me?
Thanks

Here's what I found out...read the Owner's Manual. It explains everything about the engine immobilizer and how it works. Sounds like it is working fine to me.

car is working fine and should be doing that. It's a security feature. Mine blinks when the car is not in use either. First guy you talked to is a MORON!
