Clean up your air and cabin filters. ( do it yourself )

You can clean up your cabin air filter and engine air filter by spraying it with a little degreaser and letting it sit a few minutes. Then hose from the clean side.
You may not get a perfectly new filter out of it, but I suspect it is 80% or more clean. My air flilter was a bit soft after the cleaning and lost its shape, but you can stiffen it up with a few plastic slats in the creases.

I washed out my engine air filter and cabin air filter as per instructions on the above post. It works fine. The engine air filter did not loose its shape but the cabin air filter is a little soft now, but some plastic slats will stiifen it up.
This will save me a bit of money as the engine air filter cost $18 at the dealer and the cabin air filter is $30.
They may not be in new condition, but I suspect they are at 80% efficentcy.
I do not see a don side in cleaning out your filters yourself.

Here is my solution. It works better than the stock cabin filter & it washes out better & will retain its shape just fine. I've made several of them for my other cars too from the original purchase.

DIY Cabin Filter

the filter at AutoZone (STP brand) is better than OEM in that it has more fins or surface area or w/e those wavy things are, and only cost me $12.

you can buy better filters than what the dealer offers from amazon for like $10

i've tried cleaning the stock filter before and it's not worth the effort. a new deodorizing filter provides better results.

Just wondering if a 99 Corolla has a cabin filter, and if so where and how to remove it? Thanks Steve.
