I bought my 2011 Corolla S 4 weeks ago. 2054 miles in I got Check Engine lights and Trac Off lights showing while on the freeway. Doesn't seem like there're anything wrong with the car performance. I am taking it back to the dealer and have them fix this under warranty. Does anyone have this problem before?
The road was wet but no puddles. Just another routine drive 10 miles drive to work. Let the car idle for about 1min before driving. Didn't turn Trac Off either. Car runs on Premium gas so I don't see what can cause the problem.
Maybe I just have the worse luck one can have. I already have the wipers replaced because one of them was defective. Now this.
Why you running Premium Gas in a car that only requires Regular? It's okay to do once in a while but there is no performance gain in a corolla with premium

I'll check the gas cap. My parents 03 Camry got better gas mileage with premium and it only requires regular, not sure if this is true for all car. I'll keep you guys update if the lights won't go away

Don't let the car idle when cold either, start the car & drive it easy until warm. This will burn off the condensation from inside a cold engine & warm it up quicker while saving fuel.
The use of premium gas is not only a waste on a Corolla, unless you end up installing a turbo, it will cause carbon build up inside the engine that will cause future problems. Premium gas is used to control detonation in high performance engines, the Corolla engine doesn't need it in stock form.

do not use premium gas. you're wasting your money, not getting anymore power and losing mileage. you only use premium gas when the engine is built with it in mind.
you can greatly change your mileage based on how you drive and how much is spent on highway and city. odds are your parents are wasting their money as well. it's always best to use the recommended fuel.
I don't even use premium and it's recommended for my car.
Edmunds.com had an article researching the "wording" in owners manuals. Some owner manuals "recommend higher octane" and others "require higher octane." In the end, its up to the driver...
Yep, freaking loose gas cap caused the problems. Thanks to the gas attendant in Portland
Glad it was an easy fix. Just another reason why I don't fill up in Oregon, I hate anyone messing with my car, including gas attendants that are not paying attention.
So you live in Vancouver? It's nice to have another local 10th gen owner. We should get together some time.
