Front Plate Relocation

Hi,

New to the 10th gen forum. Taking delivery of a 2011 within the next few weeks, should be a nice upgrade from my 20 yo Corolla. Just wanted a quick opinion. Should I ask to not have the front plate mounted? How hard would it be to secure it with some zip-ties to the lower grill?

I'm sure I could make something within a day or two to mount the plate in the lower grill, the thought of drilling holes into the bumper makes me shudder! I see some people have done this on their cars, any pointers on what to do?

Thanks!

It's illegal in Ontario to drive without a front plate.

You can google DIY's on license plate relocation brackets and just modify it to fit your car.

Front bumper is just a piece of plastic... no need worry over drilling a couple of holes...

I'm sure you could relocate the plate, but I'd want something more substantial than zip ties to hold it on.

If you want to relocate it, ask the dealer not to mount the plate for you.

I've seen people use these relocating kits.

All I'm concerned about is preserving the paint on the front bumper. Do you think this plate holder will work? Swift Motorsports

I will keep the plate up of course, just seems nice to have for cleaning and polishing purposes.

Yes, it is expensive. I'm just hoping I can make it fit.

Why you want to relocate it? You think it looks better off to the side or something? If you don't like it, don't use it and run the risk of getting pulled over for it.

Too pricey for what you get. Might as well add a few dollars more and get one of these:

the 09-10 bumpers have dimples in them to show where the plate will go. not sure about the '11+

my front plate is held on with zip ties and stainless steel wire. i modified the stock plate holder and drilled a couple holes in it to accept the zip ties and wire.

*thread reopened*

I fixed the link that was posted up Greg. The other one was incomplete and led to a 404 error. I think we should hear what the OP decides before taking the next step since not everyone is able to tackle DIYs.

My DIY takes roughly 5min to do and NO cutting or any modding needed. If someone can't do that DIY, lord help them! lol.

Either way, there are several threads on this topic already.
