Need quick help with Red Line MT-90

Hello all, I just got the Red Line oil that I ordered in the mail this morning. I ordered the MT-90 (75w90) like all of you seem to use, but instead got the MTL (70w80) shipped to me. I called and chatted with Red Line for a few min and they said that it would work ok but it is just a lower viscosity. I do 98% highway driving, so just worried this may be to thin? So my question is, should I send it back and get what I ordered or, just use the MTL that they sent? Thanks all for your help as usual!

Toyota calls for 75 weight not 70. It may be close but do you want to risk your powertrain warranty? Personally, I would send it back.

I totally agree. I was actually on the phone with the shop that I got the oil from as I got the email that you responded to the thread. Its not usually like me to even consider using somthing even though I have my mind set on what I really need. It will make me feel better having the right stuff. Long story short, they are sending out the MT-90 and it will be here tomorrow, and I'll just ship the MTL back. Just wish Red Line stuff was more popular locally, as I would use more of there product, great stuff.

I was going to say the same thing, send it back & use the MT-90 which is the right stuff.

I'm very happy that I can easily find the Red Line products locally, & they are tax free in Portland!

The best local dealer for me for Red Line is about an hours drive, so i just ordered it from them (GrimmSpeed.com) they are a Subie/evo parts maker/tuner outfit that has a great website and great customer service. They said that the MT-90 will be here in the morning and to just put the wrong stuff in the box and ship it back, very cool and painless.

Kinda sucks just not going to the store and getting it like alot of you can, but living just down the road from ams oil, this is ams oil country and thats all you see in local parts stores. Just wish more places sold Red Line as I would prolly use more of their stuff. We always used Red Line gear lube in our ASCS 360 sprint car and worked very well! I hoped it was as easy to become a dealer of Red Line as it is to become a Ams dealer, but not the case.
