I have a new corolla i want to mod a little. Should I wait til the 3 year warrant is up so I do not void anything?
I hear a rear sway bar and lowering springs help....read that a front strut brace is not that useful..
is getting a cold air intake worth it if there are no other aftermarket engine parts? i read somewhere (maybe here) that since the ECU and everything else is stock, the car will not take advantage of the cold air intake....i would like to get some more acceleration in the lower gears if possible, not sure if if cold air intake would do that...(car newb)
basically, i don't want to spend a lot of money, want to keep fuel efficiency, but LOVE the steering on the '11...soooooo smooth, want to be able to excentuate that with some parts for better handling (evenually summer tires too!)
would anyone mind giving some opinions or pointing me in the correct direction?? from what i've read here, rear sway bar seems to be the best first upgrade. . .
The TRD rear sway bar is a guaranteed handling improvement. It will make the steering and cornering even better, more stability on highway with cross winds etc too.
The lower you go with springs, the more wear your shocks will endure.
You get an intake and you will want to hear the sound it brings which is only brought to you by pushing the gas pedal down further...unless you resist. Even "CAI my way" (which is free) can tempt you to hear the sounds...

The TRD FSB will improve the the stiffness of the chassis & allow the suspension to work better.

I have no plans on dropping but my first mod is the RSB followed by window vent visors. I might add the FSB later.
At least install TRD springs since they handle much better than stock but still ride nicely. The stock 4x4 ride height has got to go. The TRD springs should be the stock springs for the S/XRS anyway & optional on the CE/LE models.

I agree that the TRD springs and sway bar should have been stock on the S model and optional on the others. Maybe with the 2012 or at least the 2013 model they will be.

But these parts are definitely worth it right? I would love more speed (but i bought a corolla for the MPGs, so not necessary). I think driving it with better handling would be much more fun? is that every1 else's experience? not interested in look so much as performance . . .

thanks for all your input so far!
The Corolla is a really fun car to drive once you improve the suspension, wheels & tires. Worth every penny to be sure.

+1
I installed TRD springs on my LE and it was sooooo much nicer to drive & handle. Haven't gotten enough cash for really nice wheels...but the upgrade from stockers helped out also....these Scion Tc rims plus spacers were a nice addition to the springs.

thanks for all your suggestion so far....as far as rims...i don't really want to spend money on bigger rims, is the stock 16" you guys think sufficient if i get different tires eventually?
i am going to have a look at the tires thread soon, but wanted to get a quick opnion? performance all season tires, or summer tires for summer, then all season for winter? live in chicago area. . .

Wheels are personal preference, if you want your car to look unique then pick out something nice.
Definitely get dedicated summer and winter tires if you're in Chicago.
