Three Weeks Old and I Took A Hit Already

So I'm on my way to get some gas tonight and I'm driving down a country road not far from my house. I live outside the city because I prefer the quiet. At any rate, there is of course no overhead street lamps along this road and a car was coming at me in the other direction. So between that and the fact that whatever it was in the road was painted a dark color I never saw it until I was about to hit it. It was some sort of small piece of furniture that is a dark mahogany sort of color so it blended into the dark surface of the road perfectly. I hit it going about 40 mph. It took out my lower grill and cracked the plastic fascia. A piece of it wedged up into the grill and dented the radiator but not enough to puncture it and cause a leak thank God. Its minor damage and the car is still driveable.

So tomorrow I get to take it over to the Toyota dealership and drop it off to be repaired. In the meantime I'll have to drive the Tacoma. The funny thing is, even with the grill hanging loose the car still has no rattles and still rides better and more quietly than my Ford POS Focus did. LMAO. God I hated that Focus! Those of you considering the new Focus, DON'T! You are literally reading a post from someone who would rather drive a slightly wrecked Corolla than an undamaged Focus. That's how bad that car is. lol

Glad to hear you alright

Why take it to be repaired at the dealership? They're gonna charge alot more than a reputable autobody shop.

Two reasons.

1. There are no reputable autobody shops around here. lol The only one that is would likely charge more than the dealership.

2. I know the dealership will get it right.

All that it will cost me is $250 and the insurance covers the rest. Besides, there is no real body damage. They will replace the front nose cap and the radiator and call it a day.

Glad you are okay. I had a similar thing happen to me many years ago in my Previa. A large plastic bucket flew out of a truck right in front of me & I couldn't avoid it. I ran over it & it punctured my radiator & broke a few other parts. I paid my $100 deductible & the local Toyota dealer replaced the parts while the insurance company paid for the damage. I had it back a few days later with a new radiator & flush too! All of the under side plastic covers were new too.

I read, that Ford is keeping the dsg from media test drivers and making "improvements on the system."

I'd say that after the bumper is replaced and you've got the car back, your next mod ASAP should be bixenon projector head lights
