What do you regret getting/not getting on your Corolla??

What do you regret getting/not getting on your Corolla?

I regret getting a sunroof/moonroof Package ... It was in the package that I wanted because it included the overhead console box [so I keep my sun glass in there] but I could of stored it in the middle console or glove box.

The $1,000 Package included the sunroof/moonroof and the the overhead console box.

Out of the 6 months I've owned my car, i've only open the roof once on the very first day to see if it worked, when i got home it closed it and the button hasn't been touched since, i only open the shade to have some light in that's all or look at the night sky on a nice night

I'm just the opposite. I love my sunroof/moonroof package. I will never buy another car without one. I leave the sunshade open most of the time as I like the additional light unless it's very hot outside. I tilt the roof open for better air flow all the time. In nice weather I always have it open, you are missing out on the enjoyment by leaving it closed all the time. This time of year is understood, but when the weather warms up enjoy it & you won't regret getting it.

More downsides to sunroofs is that they reduce structural integrity of the car because they add weight at the worst place possible (way above the car's center of gravity), they cut into headroom and tend to leak as they get older.

In a race car this may be more of an issue, in a Corolla the positives outweigh the negatives IMO. I'm 6'2" & I have plenty of headroom in my Corolla. I've also never had an issue with a factory sunroof leaking, though I'm sure some do over many years.

In a car like the Corolla that has an abundant amount of chassis flex to begin with, every little bit matters. I also forgot to mention increased noise as well. The negatives outweigh the positives IMO.

Like I said, maybe if you were racing but most anyone wouldn't be able to tell the difference in a blind comparison if it was possible to do so. And my chassis don't flex much at all after adding the chassis bars . The only time the noise is higher is when the sunroof is open, when closed it's very much the same. I was just comparing the same things this past weekend because my nephew had rented a 2010 Corolla S without the sunroof. It was very amazing what a difference my mods have made.

Well it's not options I regretting getting the Corolla but the trim itself

I regret not getting the S trim, instead i got the CE trim

At the time I was getting out of College and into my new job thinking I won't last long [the economy wasn;t good then] ... so I'll save some money by getting the CE trim to save ~$5 - 6,000 but 1 1/2 years later i am still working at the same company

But all in all S or no S I love the corolla both looks and mileage on gas. Performance is good/sufficient for daily driving

I've probably used the sunroof in my car a total of 4 times since I started driving it 3 years ago.

I don't know why people buy the sunroof if they're not going to use it. As I said, I love it & I use it. If I didn't love it I wouldn't buy cars with them. My 07 Corolla CE doesn't have a sunroof & I'm always wishing it did on nice days.

On my MR2 the t-tops are never on during the summer. I just enjoy the air like I would if I had a convertible.

When I bought my S I waited until I found a car with every option I wanted. When I looked 6 months earlier noting was available like I wanted so I just didn't buy anything at that time. I waited & found the exact car I wanted with every option, color & model.

Sunroofs are highly over rated. I had a 2002 Isuzu Rodeo Sport that had two sunroofs in it. One front and one rear. They got used once. It's just like most people that had T-Tops in their Camaros and Firebirds rarely took them out.

I don't feel any airflow coming into the cabin with the sunroof open, especially with a wind deflector. Plus it's annoying to use, and I don't want it to break, lol.

It does appear to be that way for many people. I use & enjoy options that I buy.

My best friend from high school had a 78 Rabbit with a sunroof that had a manual crank. We always cruised around with it open. At night I loved seeing the stars, I was hooked from that point on a sunroof.

Why is it annoying to use? You just push a button? You sound like my dad worrying about something breaking. Use it, enjoy it & IF something happens, fix it.

Comparing the cost to fix a sunroof in a older car vs. the current value of the car is what keeps me from using it. Plus now I got I my new speakers set up and I just enjoy music and want the cabin as quiet as possible.
