I blew two ac compressors already and my 09 xrs only has 49K miles. wth is up with the clutchless design. anyone else have ac compressor issues from their xrs?
sorry to hear that your AC comp keeps going. Up here in Canada my AC is only used maybe for a couple weeks of the year in the summer when the humidity is causing some high 90s temps (30+ in Canadian).
Based on your location, i take it your AC is used just about every day. Anyone from a warmer climate have these issues?
It's good to use the A/C every month or so just to lubricate the compressor & make sure everything keeps moving. Whenever you put the defrost on the a/c compressor is going too. It does seem weird though to have that many go bad. Makes me think that something is not lined up right & allowing the compressor to turn properly.

i have learned in the past 2 days, that our ac compressors have a clutchless design. meaning that after installing the compressor, the car cannot be moved un til oil and refridgerant has been added. as soon as you start your car, the belt is spining the compressor as there is no clutch. i replaced my compressor and drove it to the shop, then i serviced the ac. so that could be why this last compressor blew. my first compressor blew probably because i vacuumed the ac lines out so that i can install a custom line when i put my turbo kit on, and i also drove my car at that time without ac fluid and oil for a while

Well, as much as it sucks, it sounds like it isn't a design problem but a user issue. Don't start or driver your car without AC fluid or oil or else you're going to keep wrecking your compressor.
Thanks for the info, though, I'm sure it will come in handy for a bunch of guys around here if they end up flushing/recharging their AC lines.
