I would like to get a Corolla S. I test drove a 2010 model but I didn't like the electronic steering because I prefer some kind of feedback. This is not to be confused with powersteering because I do want powersteering. What are my options to get around this?
well, from my understanding and research I don't think the models 2008 and before have the electronic steering mechanism..... but there aren't alot S models for sale that are 2008 that half around 50k miles(which is what I am looking for).
If you don't want EPS, you have to get a 9th Generation or older. All 2009+ models have EPS.
If you want EPS that has better feedback and a is way heavier, try an XRS. It may be a bit more in terms of dollars, and a bit less in terms of fuel economy, but it is a much nicer car, in my opinion.

+1
TRD Springs on the XRS tightened it right up as well.

One of the posts on here has a link to a site that shows how to change the EPS settings by adding a couple of adjustable resistors. It looked a bit complicated, but nothing too far out of reality. It might be easier going that route than trying to find a 2008 model.

Yes, I read about the XRS model....but it kinda defeats my purpose of buying the Corolla for saving money in fuel and buying cost.
I found upgrading my suspension & going to 17" wheels with much better tires has made my EPS feel wonderful. Even a better tire can change the feel in a positive direction. You will also get used to it but it's very hard to have a positive view of it from a test drive on stock tires.

The only difference I notice on my 2013 is at lower speeds it's extremely easy but so what? If there's a bump in the road I still feel it thru the steering wheel, if the road is uneven I still see and feel it thru the steering wheel. If I run over someone I'm sure I will still feel and know it even if I wasn't looking at the road and had my eyes closed (It's not my fault that guy wasn't in a crosswalk he came out of no where I swear!). I drive a lot of highway miles and it does tighten up when going 60+ mph. You will get use to it and it will be 'normal' after awhile. I personally don't see what your looking for by having harder steering? I can still feel everything. Also you can try getting a good set of tires.

there is no feel what-so-ever.... my last car had no ps, just rack and pinion, and it was amazing. the eps is one of the worst parts of the car. second only to the dbw.
