Dial By Number appeared to work, as I got the Dial By Number indication on the radio dial, just no female voice came on to give me the verbal instructions. I didn't bother continuing to try to complete the call.

To me is a software issue related to the controller of the amp."

I think wilfredcruz is correct, this is a software issue. The only way I was able to get the system to return to normal was also to turn the car off and restart it.

"See if you can find the answer on Page 207 of your Paper manual............"

njerald,

I spoke to Toyota corporate Monday morning and they too referred me to page 207 of the manual. Here's what page 207 says about the mode switch:

3. "MODE" switch

Push the "MODE" switch to select an audio mode. Each push changes the mode sequentially if the desired mode is ready to use.

To turn the audio system on, push the "MODE" switch.

To turn the audio system off, push and hold the "MODE" switch until the system turns off.

Nothing is mentioned about a "mute" function.

I called Toyota corporate back Monday evening and spoke to another representative. She also referenced page 207, only problem was her page 207 was not like my page 207. She hypothesized that there must be updated versions of the owner's manual. If anybody has a differnet page 207 and it says something about a mute fuction. I would appreciate hearing exactly what it says.

Thanks again for everybody's help with this issue.

Mike

I just looked at brand new manual from a Camry fresh off the truck. Page 207 says nothing about mute. Hope that helps.
