Is this an option on the 2009, as it is listed in the brochure of specs?
If not, what years have this option?

2003 - 2006 had an AWD option with the 1.8L 1ZZ-FE engine.
2009 has an AWD option with the 2.4L 2AZ-FE engine.

Is the 2009 AWD electronic Haldex or viscous-coupling?
Do you have to change all 4 or 2 tires if flat to keep tread thickness the same?
Thanks.

Good point. Is the AWD the V-Flex 4WD system? Is it a slip n' grip type or fulll time AWD?

Note that the badges say "Matrix XR AWD" this year compared to "Matrix 4WD XR" on 03-06 models.

There is some discussion about this over on matrixowners.com - I believe it is a 'slip-n-grip' type of thing that only kicks in when the rear wheels lose traction - I've read that it has similarities to the rav4 system but not sure.
