5 star front crash rating for driver, 5 star for front passenger
5 star side impact crash rating for driver and front seat passenger
4 star side impact crash rating for back seat passengers

The only reason the back seat rating isn't a 5 as well is because the back seat does not have an airbag that covers the torso region.

These are good ratings. 09 Matrix buyers, you have a safe car.

unfortunately the 09 matrix did not make it to the top 10 least expensive car to own. The previous was, but the new generation did not make it.
