Matrix VS Vibe

They are essentially the same car (Same Toyota Engine + tranny, same size, and many shared parts) except for the badge, trims, and coming off from different assembly plants. Is it worth it to pay the Toyota premium version over GM and why?

All Matrix's are built at TMMC in Cambridge Ontario Canada. All Vibe's are built at NUMMI in California.

Wikipedia says
Vibe, Corolla, and Tocoma, are built at NUMMI (Fremont CA), whereas Matrix is built at Cambridge ON.

Besides if you want a car built in CA or Canada a Toyota or a Pontiac,
you'll be best of asking yourself a few questions like

- best trade in deal or incentives from Toyota or Pontiac dealer?
- best location for maintenance, parts and service
- which features or packages do you want
- how long you gonna own it, best resale value, cost of insurance etc....

If your main incentive is which one is gonna cost you less to drive off the lot
then I'll bet it would be a Pontiac but you might aswell look into it and see who offers the best package.

i guess with the matrix it's mostly the toyota name that makes the price higher...but i would definitely get a vibe than the matrix if i'm basing it on looks. if you are about the resale value i guess toyota you can pay the extra couple few thousand for it...how long do you plan on keeping the car?

personally for me i don't care about the resale value...i just like the look of the vibe haha

vibe looks more masculine

i was originally planning on the 09 corolla xrs but i now wanted something with more storage and versitility...plus the rear independant suspension setup. i hate torsion beam

Daaaamn.... I think the styling of the Vibe blows the matrix out of the water! But oh well... at least mine says 'Toyota' on it!

i guess if you buy it used can't go wrong with a used Vibe. GM depreciation makes it a good used car deal.
