Mine came with the 6 speakers and you're right it is 'mehh!' especially when using the ipod in some situations. I'd like to get new speakers all round and get some sound insulation as well. Seems like a lot of work and you need to drill the rivets out of the stock speakers.....

Still when the music recording is crisp still able to get some good sound out of it.

Do you have the steering wheel controls all hooked up to the pioneer?

Yeah i have the 6 speakers too. and i use an Ipod alot.
Sound insulation sounds good to me! but a bit pricey for now. but something to maybe look into.
and what do u mean by needing to drill out the rivets from the stock speakers?

and i dont have the steering wheel controls. its all to teh pioneer, and it comes with a remote. which i thought was kinda lame at first, then now as im using it, its a pretty sweet idea.

The front door speakers are held in by three rivets. There were some pictures over on matrixowners.com I think Joe Darkness posted them up. I don't know about the rear speakers.

Thats dumb that they held them in with rivets. The stock speakers dont sound good and they arnt loud, but I think the loudness problem is the headunit. Im just saving for a mounting kit. hopefull yht e speaker install isnt too hard..

I upgraded the four stock speakers with Polks from Circuit City. They did not charge for the labor install, of course also added a Pioneer head unit, four channel amp, XM and a Bazooka SubWoofer. My Trix really rocks and thumps now!

I had the entire jbl system replaced with some Focal two-ways in front and midbass rears, Focal 16" sub, Arc Audio amps, and an Eclipse head unit with ipod interface that I can control with the steering wheel controls. Much better now.

I had a shop do it - I had them take out the spare tire and put the amps & power cell there, and that was a bit too much for me to attempt. I also had them build me a box to the proper dimensions for the sub.

I tried to take some pics with my camera phone, but they're really grainy. I'm charging my digicam up, and I'll try to snap a couple pics tomorrow.
