I just placed my order for one on www.installer.com
The guy last week said to give him a call middle of this week... he thought he'd have them in by then. So, I saw them available for order today on their website and I went ahead and placed the order.

Anyone know what wiring harness can be utilized for the 09 model?

I used the Toyota 87+ harness available from cruchfield. I think metraonline also list the same harness. There are actually 4 plugs going into the stock HU but with this harness only 2 of them plug back up, this means the Aux input and probably the steering wheel controls (if I had them) wouldn't work? I'm not sure, but for me it works fine and I don't need the Aux-in anymore anyway...

cool here's a link to the one for me:

My next question is if I can use the PAC SWI-PS to integrate the steering wheel controls to my Pioneer DEH-P4900iB.

I just don't know if PAC took into consideration the 2009 Matrix yet in its install instructions. If one of the 4 plug ins to the factory head unit is for the steering wheel control... then will the hook up of the PAC SWI-PS work or not?

I don't know, maybe a dealer can supply you with a wiring schematic. One way you could test to find which connector is for the steering controls unplug the connector and test to see when/if the steering controls stop working.

I ordered the dash kit from installer last night. Thanks for the link

This is the link to Pac Audio and the wiring schematic of hooking up the Pac SWI-PS. Even the link to get to the specific matrix model is a link of year '2009'.... so I'm hoping I just tie into that connection and then it plugs into the back of the pioneer head unit...sending the steering wheel controls to your new head unit:

Boatbuilder, please let me know when you actually have this in hand. I exchanged e-mails with the Metra rep and he said they are still about 4 weeks away from production.

I have a 2009 Matrix, Metallic Blue, 1.8L that has 1500 miles on it in the 3 weeks I have had it.

Wanted the 1.8L for the fuel economy (getting 30 mpg city/hwy so far) but that limited the options available.

I added an aftermarket XM, four good speakers, a four channel amp and a Bazooka powered 8" subwoofer tube. I still have the original HU and have been waiting for the 2009 dash kit.

What aftermarket HU's are good choices out there? I have a good installer (at CC of all places) that recommends the Pioneer.

I would appreciate any inputs. Traded in my 2005 Mustang GT on the Trix. Loved my Stang but not the gas mileage. I know these forums have a great community of proud owners and am happy to belong to TN now.

I live in sunny, hot, Tucson, Arizona. Thanks

I got an email from installer.com today that they have shipped my 09 metra dash kit. 99-8224 (single din kit) I placed the order about a week ago.

I like the blue trix

Thanks for the info on the dash kit and props on my new blue trix. I like the Sundance Metallic as well but the only other choice in stock was white....

I am going to place my order for the dash kit now. What aftermarket HU are you putting in?

I already switched out my 6 disc factory HU to an Alpine-CDA9883 it has a good ipod connection and sounds a lil' better thru the stock (6) speakers.

Hey jdhog, I ordered mine last night and got the "you've got dash kit coming" e-mail today. Hope it has the notches that make the 2009 different from the 2008.
