Tire wear issue

I've had my Matrix for 2 days (brand freaking new, nice!) and i know the previous gen had the issue of the outter treads wearing prematurely and scalloping really bad. i was wondering if anyone has owned the new matrix long enough to see the same pattern happening again?

USA Tires

Yes I have had the problem, 09 S Model with Goodyear RSA's. Bought the car with 11,000 miles on it, love the car. The tires are feathering and acts like the tires are out round when driving on the freeway. Took it to a Goodyear dealer and he said the tires were not rotated when they should have been. My car has the 2.4L engine which has a very light rear end, tire guy said with the light rear end and not rotating the tires it will develop flat spots and feather the tires. The tires need to be rotated every 5,000 miles, tire guy said the only way to fix my problem was to buy new tires.

Those RSA are the cheapest, shittest tires around. I have the same tires on my trix have 15k miles rotated only once and they are doing fine still.

I have 17 inch RSA, with over 30k Kilometers. I would recommend rotating the tires when you do your oil changes every 5k or 10k kilometers. I have no issues with the RSA except for certain road conditions when I bought it last year when the car were first introduced in March of 08. I would recommend that you get better performance tires when you have the chance when it wears down to it's wear tread mark on the tire. I'm going for Michelins, BF Goodrich, Bridgestone or Perelli's.

I am finding the OEM's are sometimes garbage when they come standard on the vehicle. Stay away from department stores or dealerships where they sell tires (Sears, Canadian Tire, Walmart and so on) of the national brand but the quality compared to other tires by the same company selling at tire dealerships is lower and different compounds. Still they have the same safety standard and manufacturing at a lower price.

My dad bought tires from Walmart and they are Goodyear Viva 2 for his Corolla. I drove his car, the tires handle well when they were new. But overtime with 5k worth of driving, my dad seems to like it, but when I drove temporarily for 500 km it kind of lost its performance handling.
I had driven cars with better tires in the past that are not OEM's and they seem to perform better (with rotation and maintenance). Do your homework on this one.

I've got an 09 XRS with BFG's on it. I had to have the dealer realign it with approx. 1000 miles on it because the tires were already cupping on the insides. I also made them rotate the tires at that time. I currently have 5060 miles on it and they still make some noise. I'm going to rotate them in a couple weeks and see if that helps.
When I went to see the dealer didn't want to do anything about the poor wear. They wanted me to go see a tire dealer. I said there is no way the tires were just going to wear that badly on their own without something in the suspension geometry being off. It was so bad that I actually noticed it with 200 miles on it but at first I thought maybe I was just being paranoid. Mainly because I only noticed it on really smooth blacktop. But it progressively got worse. They wanted me to put on 5000 miles before I brought it back in. Sure! So I can have some really F'd up tires before I get it fixed. The dealership cried a little but I wasn't going to settle for less than a new alignment. Sure enough the specs for the toe was off. I told I just saved them a bunch of money because they're less likely to have to buy me a new set of tires.
