Adding Xm To Std Radio 2009 Matrix

Hoping someone can help.

I just ordered the XM receiver and XM fit kit for my 2009 Matrix with the standard radio.

Can anyone tell me how to install it; how to get the head unit out, where the Sat antenna is, and what connections I need to make?

Your help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Jerry S.

Adding Sat To 2009 Matrix

Thank you for the help. I had found that thread, but when I tried to view the pictures, it said I had to be a member. Each time I try to register, it asks for the code in the image, but all I can see is "X" where the picture of the code is. I'll keep trying to become a member of that forum.

Thanks for the help.

To get the HU out, pull off the trim panel, it just pops right off, then you will need to unhook the hazard and seatbelt/airgbag light connectors. Then with the trim panel off, you will see 2 screws either side that mounts the HU. Unscrew these 4 screws and the HU will pull out.

The Sat antenna is located in the right rear cargo area behind the roof liner. There is a little blue connector that the XM kit should plug into and run the antenna wire up to wherever you mount the receiver.

As far as connections you need to make, I don't really know, I imagine you will need to connect the XM into a switched power source and a ground and then hopefully it should be a matter of plugging in whatever the kit comes with into the Head Unit.

There maybe other issues you run into, for instance I don't know if your HU has a SAT input or you might have to run it into the HU as an AUX input, or possibly use an FM switch box.

Good luck. Let us know how it goes.
